Odd Dot, an imprint of Macmillan, has created sticker countdown calendars for just about every occasion. We shared the Back-to-School Sticker Countdown on our Instagram stories and this review will cover the Halloween, Hannukah, and Christmas Sticker Countdowns.
Each of the Sticker Countdowns is trifold and opens to a themed backdrop on the left and center fold with the stickers on the right fold. The material is a sort of vinyl that not only takes the stickers well, but allows you to move the stickers without losing adhesion (within reason). Your littles (and not so littles) will be able to express their creativity over and over again, if they want.
The Halloween Sticker Countdown, illustrated by Teo Skffa, shows the inside of a gothic mansion. With each of the 31 stickers, you get to decorate your mansion for Halloween. Some of the stickers are spooky and some are silly, so you’ll have a wonderful mansion by Halloween. You can even decorate the back of the closed trifold, which shows the mansion’s exterior.
The Hanukkah Sticker Countdown, illustrated by Sarah Green, opens to a Menorah on the left fold. The center shows a family in various rooms of their home, preparing for the Hanukkah celebrations. It includes 9 candles stickers for the menorah and 17 more stickers representing treats, decorations, and Hanukkah elements. The windows are marked 1-8, so, even though there are 26 stickers, they are opened on the 8 nights of Hanukkah.
And last but not least:
The Christmas Sticker Countdown, illustrated by Teo Skaffa, opens to Santa’s Workshop on the left and center folds. The 25 stickers on the right fold include decorations, toys, treats and more to get you into the holiday mood. The back of the trifold has a giant snowman and two Christmas trees, ready for decorating, as well.
The Odd Dot Sticker Countdowns are marked for ages 4-8, but you could give these to older children and even adults, as well. They are each 14 1/8” x 10 1/8”, so they are great if you’ll be traveling during the holiday seasons. They can be packed in a larger backpack or at the bottom of a suitcase and are sturdy enough that they should retain their shape, especially if you have hard-sided suitcases. They can be folded up and tucked into a drawer each day, if you’re pressed for space, but can be used as holiday décor, on a mantel, a bookshelf, desk, or even the floor.
