Our final Christmas in July advent calendar review is of the largest advent calendar in the series. Diamond Art Club, who also created an annual calendar (which we reviewed last December: https://www.gaynycdad.com/2025/12/diamond-art-club.html), also has an advent calendar: 12 Days at the Sparkling Gift Shop. And it is huge!

If you haven’t experienced diamond painting yet (or read my previous review, linked above), diamond painting is an art craft, where you affix colored “diamonds” to a patterned canvas. It’s not quite 3-dimensional, though there are 3D kits, but it does add an interesting texture and sparkly effect to the image. For the advent calendar, Diamond Art Club has curated a collection of 12 diamond painting items, including tools, kits, diamonds, etc., each of which fits the Christmas theme.

What’s in the box?

The Diamond Art Club 12 Days at the Sparkling Gift Shop advent calendar is a 12-day calendar that opens like a book to reveal a shop with shelves of gifts. It even has an ice-blue ribbon to hold it closed. The reason it is so big is that it includes full-sized items in every window! Some windows hold tools, including Christmas-themed tools, gems, washi tape, and cover minders, and others hold diamond painting kits. Not every diamond painting kit in the advent calendar includes the tool kit (which includes the drill pen, tray, and wax), so be sure to open the windows in order. The first full diamond painting kit, which is in Day 2’s window, includes the tool kit, so you can use it with the kits that don’t have one.

The Day 2 kit includes diamonds, the tool kit (which includes the diamond-setting wand, plus a 7-diamond attachment, two pieces of diamond wax (a clear rectangle and a red heart), some small zipper lock bags (for holding the open diamond bags and/or leftover diamonds), and a stacking tray to hold the diamonds while you apply them to the image), stickers for each of the different-colored gems (so you can tell them apart once they are in the zipper lock bags), plus some bonus stickers of the images in the canvases.

The Diamond Art Club 12 Days at the Sparkling Gift Shop doesn’t have an age limit, but there are enough small items (larger than the diamonds, but still small enough to swallow) that you should supervise your littles, if they’re working on the diamond paintings, too, or even just watching you work. The Diamond Art Club 12 Days at the Sparkling Gift Shop Advent Calendar is a great gift for all levels of diamond painters, from beginner to expert. There are small projects and two full-sized Christmas-themed canvases, so you’ll have plenty of diamond painting, enough to share if you’ve got a big family. At least two of the kits have multiple components (for example, there’s a set of six coasters), so it would be a great family activity.

TOP TIP: Diamond Art Club diamond painting kits are made for chunking! I wrote about chunking in my 2025 single parent holiday gift guides. Chunking is breaking down larger crafts, puzzles, etc., into smaller sections that you can complete in one sitting. You can choose a section or a color at a time, then replace the plastic cover and come back to it later. The Diamond Art Club 12 Days at the Sparkling Gift Shop advent calendar is a great gift for all the single parents on your list, especially if they have older children they can share the calendar with!
