I recently discovered that the above two chain stores want to push customers to shop online for either delivery or local pick-up and are willing to give you deep discounts to encourage you to do so. I am happy to help them!
Example at Walgreens:
-In-store 32 oz. Walgreens brand sanitizer = $5.99.
-Online price is $5.49, and has a deal, BOGO 1/2 off.
-I find additional coupons on the Walgreens site almost every week, for example, MAR15 for 15% off your purchase of $35, or MAR20, 20% off your purchase of $50. On top of that, this week’s extra extra deal is a $10 credit (calculated after coupons and discounts) with your Walgreens card for purchases of at least $40, see above picture.
Let’s do the math. Assuming I am spending a total of over $50 in one shopping haul that I will pick-up myself as Walgreens is 1/2 block from me.
Rounding up as we are getting rid of the pennies in America, walking in store, 2 large Walgreens brand sanitizers cost $12.
Online, this cost is $5.50 plus $2.75. I will spend more to save more, so my total will now be over $50, therefore I will get 20% off $8.25, leaving my total at $6.60. The additional $10 credit for my clipping the coupon for $10 in Walgreens cash rewards, gets me an additional 20% off, now I am down to $5.28. So the $6 hand sanitizer now costs me $2.64.
I also pump up my total by stocking up on 4 packs of Starbucks premade coffees, my hubby likes to combine that with the Costco cold brew in a can. A $7.39 pack becomes $5.91, and then $4.72, I used MAR20 and am getting the $10 Walgreens cash rewards. If you can do better, leave me a comment!
I check the Walgreens site weekly to see what coupons and other deals there are so that I can stack and save! Usually, the above discounts I mentioned work on sale items, so it is a great way to stock up on cookies on a twofer deal (for my community service meetings, not my own belly!), and many other things!
CVS has similar deals, although I rarely shop there as Walgreens was where I had to switch my prescriptions to a few years ago. For those who love cereal and find the store prices ridiculously high, CVS almost always has some brands on sale, STOP COMPLAINING ABOUT CEREAL PRICES AND SHOP THE SALES AT CVS, I often am able to get name brands cereals for $3 or less a box, SHOP THE SALES PEOPLE!
