One of the best Predator movies yet!
The hunt comes home when the pulse-pounding sci-fi action film, Predator: Badlands arrives January 6 on Digital including Prime Video, Apple TV, and Fandango at Home:
“Predator: Badlands,” which stars Elle Fanning and Dimitrius Schuster-Koloamatangi, is set in the future on a remote planet, where a young Predator (Schuster-Koloamatangi), outcast from his clan, finds an unlikely ally in Thia (Fanning) and embarks on a treacherous journey in search of the ultimate adversary. The film is directed by Dan Trachtenberg and produced by John Davis, Dan Trachtenberg, Marc Toberoff, Ben Rosenblatt, Brent O’Connor.
Director Dan Trachtenberg steers the Predator franchise into bold new territory, with audiences enthusiastically embracing his vision. Predator: Badlands has emerged as the highest-grossing entry in the franchise’s 38-year history, earning $184 million worldwide and surpassing the previous record holder, 2004’s Alien vs. Predator ($177.4M). The film’s success is matched by strong audience and critical response, boasting a 95% Rotten Tomatoes® Verified Hot Popcornmeter score and an 86% Certified Fresh Tomatometer critics rating.
This is the first new Predator movie since 2018, and this one is energizing the franchise with a new type of story, a predator working with a non-predator! And it is the first PG-13 Predator movie! This first non-R rating will widen the Predator audience, and with more comedic elements and less gore, it will not be as horrifying for the younger audience. The purists may not be happy with less gore, but overall, this could be a great new direction for the latest Predator franchise entry!
