Meliora Forever Instant Cocktail Cubes are the brainchild of Jessica Stephens, an entrepreneur who found a way to make fancy cocktails accessible for everyone. And, now, she has advent calendars! This review is of the Whiskey Advent Calendar, but there are also Vodka and Gin or Champagne advent calendars, if you prefer.

Meliora Forever Instant Cocktail Cubes are specially-formulated sugar cubes that, when dissolved in hot water, become a fully-formed mixer for the recommended alcohol. There are sugar cubes mixers for many of the more popular alcohols, including rum, gin, vodka, tequila, and, of course, whiskey. They also offer themed bundles. The Autumn and Winter collections look amazing. I am a big fan of cardamom, so I’ve got my eye on their Solstice cocktail.
The Meliora Forever Whiskey Advent Calendar is a 12-day calendar. The interior is a beautiful winter scene with bauble ornaments hanging on an outdoor tree. Each of the bauble ornaments is an advent calendar window, behind which is a small tube with two flavored sugar cubes. The cocktail mixes in the advent calendar are specially formulated for the holidays and are not available separately. The sugar cubes are mixed with warm water, then added to the alcohol (or vice versa). The general ratio is one sugar cube to one shot of alcohol, so they are virtually fool-proof.
TOP TIP: Because there are two cubes in each window, you have three options: have a large one; have a small one twice; or share.
I used Boss Molly Bourbon (which I’ve included in a previous holiday gift guide) to make my Meliora Forever cocktails. Boss Molly bourbon is an award-winning bourbon (also created by women) and is smooth with sweet caramel, almost butterscotch, notes and a delicate fruit finish that comes from the brandy staves they use to store the bourbon in while it ages. This pairing was brilliant, if I do say so myself. The cocktails are smooth and delicious, with just enough warmth from the bourbon.
