It’s only fitting to complete our 2025 advent calendar coverage with Ravensburger’s Christmas Around the World Advent Calendar. Ravensburger is one of the world’s premier puzzle makers!! Their puzzle images are top-notch, and they use recycled and recyclable materials for their puzzles and packaging. They are a great gift for any jigsaw puzzle fan and/or your gift recipients!
Ravensburger’s Around the World Advent Calendar contains 24 small, numbered boxes, each of which contains a single complete jigsaw puzzle. Each of the individual puzzles is 54 pieces that are approximately 1”. Each puzzle is about half edge and half interior pieces, so they are quite easy to put together and take less than 10 minutes to solve, which means you could open these boxes at any time of day. Each puzzle has two borders: a straight-edged frame for the image and in interior plain white border. These first interior border pieces are white on the outside edge and the image itself begins on this interior border. This double framing means you can combine the puzzles in any order you like.
TOP TIP: The frames are the same for each puzzle (as they need to be for subsequent combining), so you could pull the edge pieces and put them together ahead of time, so your littles only have to work on the interior pieces. Actually, each puzzle’s pieces are the same as the next, because they have to be able to fit in with every other puzzle in any order.
The individual boxes are brilliantly designed. In addition to the numbered side that you see as you open the box, there is information on each side of the boxes. One side shows the completed image of the puzzle. Another tells you which country and city the image depicts. Another side says Merry Christmas in English and in the language of the country that box represents. The other two sides say Ravensburger and 54 (the number of pieces in the puzzle).
TOP TIP: Each of the puzzle boxes has a perforated tab that allows you to open the box easily, without destroying the box closure.
I didn’t find a notation on the box, but the Ravensburger website indicates that this advent calendar is for ages 12 and up. With supervision and a little help (especially the joining up of the individual puzzles) your littles can join in, just be mindful of the small(ish) pieces. This is a beautiful advent calendar with special meaning for me. I grew up in the military, and this calendar includes all five countries I’ve lived in, as well as many others that I’ve visited. It’s my favorite advent calendar yet.
TOP TIP: Box 24 represents five different countries for a very special reason. Look very closely at the image and make sure you help your littles find the secret!
