Next up in our advent calendar series is the Lovepop Snowden Christmas Market Advent Calendar. If you’ve been to a mall in the past 10 years, you’ve likely seen a Lovepop kiosk, full of beautiful greeting cards. You might even have been enticed in by the colorful scenes. When you open a Lovepop greeting card, an incredible 3-D paper sculpture unfolds before your eyes. It seems impossible, really, that such a big sculpture could have fit into the card, but that is the genius of Lovepop. And they make advent calendars!
The Lovepop Snowden Christmas Market has 24 windows, each of which contains a small paper pop-up. Once you figure out how the “pop” needs to happen, you’ll find yourself holding a small 3D sculpture. (This particular sculpture was a bit tricky for me to figure out, but it seemed obvious when it opened. It closed very easily.)
The 24 pieces of the Snowden Christmas Market can be arranged into a lovely vignette of animals and their market stalls. They can be arranged all together to form one story or the individual pieces can be used to enhance your Christmas decorations. As always, my reviews are spoiler-free, so this is all you get.
Lovepop also makes an assortment of holiday cards, some of which have lights and music, like this Nutcracker card (don’t tell my mom – I’m giving it to her). You’ll have to imagine the music, but it fits the theme.
The Snowden Christmas Market Advent Calendar is marked as a kid’s advent calendar on the site, but some of the pieces can be tricky to open, so adult supervision is recommended (by me). It’s slightly larger than a sheet of paper and about a half-inch thick, so it’s packable, too.
TOP TIP: If you’re going to be traveling during the holiday season, take pictures of each day’s pop-up, so you can tuck the pieces back into their envelopes and take them with you.
