In Your Dreams Movie Arrives on Netflix November 14, 2025!
What if your dreams could become reality? Get ready for the adventure of a nighttime in Netflix’s brand-new animated film, In Your Dreams, a comedy adventure about Stevie and her brother Elliot who journey into the absurd landscape of their own dreams. If the siblings can withstand a snarky stuffed giraffe, zombie breakfast foods, and the queen of nightmares, the Sandman will grant them their ultimate dream come true…the perfect family. Featuring Jolie Hoang-Rappaport, Elias Janssen, Craig Robinson, Simu Liu, and Cristin Milioti.
The movie was realistic and heartwarming. Realistic in that the issues this family of four were having were not sugar coated. This is a bigger help to children watching their parents go through struggles then not being honest. As a parent, kids often see through our deceptions, and that helps no one, but rather is a breeding ground for distrust of one’s parents that may follow you through life.
The movie was one big parable for this family’s circumstances, sibling rivalry and love, and it was beautifully done. Perfect for kids of all ages, which includes us adults. There is a uniqueness to this movie which makes it all the more enjoyable, and I cannot recommend this movie strongly enough for family viewing this holiday weekend, and all weekends, it is a great family movie, specially one to see together and discuss afterwards!!
And then we got to listen to the folks from Netflix talk about the movie:

The moderator, John Canemaker, was Alex Woo’s teacher at NYU (and an Oscar winner himself) when Alex was studying animation there! What a treat to see them together again, and we quickly learned this is where Alex earned his first award, while still a student. A lot of animation folks got their star at Pixar, and Alex is no exception. having been on Disney junkets, we learned how hard these folks work, and the amazing attention to detail that they accomplish. That is a great pedigree! Alex eventually went on to form his own company, Kuku Studios, where this movie was produced.
The movie follows the journey of two siblings, Stevie and Elliot. Alex shared how these characters were based on his and his younger brother’s relationship as kids:
IN YOUR DREAMS began ten years ago, when I left Pixar to start Kuku Studios. At the time, we were a tiny team of three, imagining the kinds of stories we wished to see in the world. One of our first ideas was a film about dreams.
Dreams have always fascinated me. Why do we have them? Where do they come from? What do they tell us about ourselves? Making this movie gave me the chance to explore those questions in the most fun and fantastical ways I could imagine.
The film takes us through surreal dreamscapes, filled with spectacular visuals and hilarious, out-of-this-world characters. But at its heart, it’s a grounded, emotional story about two siblings finding their way through a world that doesn’t always make sense.
It’s a feeling I know well.
When I was six years old, on a cold Minnesota morning, I woke up to find my mom at the front door with her bags packed. She gently told me and my brother that she needed some time away to figure things out for our family. I didn’t fully understand what that meant—but I knew everything was about to change.
The world didn’t feel quite as safe after that. The alarm of that morning woke me up to the reality that life is far from perfect.
Luckily, I wasn’t alone. My brother and I hatched some harebrained schemes to save our family. None of them worked – but the bond we built on that journey helped us find a way forward in the middle of the unknown. And thankfully, my parents eventually did figure things out. They’ve now been married for almost 50 years.
I made this movie with the belief that the best way through is with an open heart—that sometimes we need to let go of what we dream life should be, and hold on to life as it actually is.
I hope you enjoy IN YOUR DREAMS, and that it inspires you and your family not only to dream big, but to find joy in all of life’s moments; because even when it’s messy, it’s beautiful.
I loved the illustration through the movie of how dreams might impact the real world, something we have all probably felt.
This is a must-see movie, and you might even notice hints of movies from the work pasts, perhaps even It’s a Small World!
Watch IN YOUR DREAMS, only on Netflix November 14.
There was a small intimate party after the preview, and you know I went and got photos with everyone! What an honor to meet Jolie, the star, who is also a current NYU student!

If they are on stage, then I get the photos!
