Delysia Chocolatier is based in Austin, Texas, and you know what that means. This advent calendar should be weird, right? After all, isn’t Austin’s official slogan “Keep Austin Weird”? Delysia Chocolatier’s Advent Calendar is well-crafted and has classic Christmas flavors, including a few traditional Christmas flavors that aren’t always mixed with chocolate.
TOP TIP: Delysia Chocolatier includes notes on how to properly store and taste your chocolates in order to have the best experience. Follow her advice!
Traditional is such a loaded word, isn’t it? We all have different holiday traditions, so whose traditions are honored in these chocolates? Well, master chocolatier Nicole Patel has gathered traditional holiday dishes from across the U.S.A. and incorporated them into her advent calendar chocolates! In the Delysia Chocolatier Advent Calendar, there are no windows (kind of weird). Instead of windows, each chocolate is numbered (from 1-24 with a bonus 25th chocolate with a holiday greeting), so each day, you just pick up the treat of the day and enjoy.
As always, this is a spoiler-free review, so you’ll have to figure out the flavors yourself. Don’t worry, though. There are two ways of figuring out what you’re eating. First, there’s a list of hints to the flavor of each of the 25 included chocolates, so you can wing it by trying to solve the hint and then eating the chocolate to see if you’re right. Second, the flavor is revealed under each chocolate, so, if you want to be surprised by the flavor, be careful not to look too closely at the box after you lift the chocolate.

fun advent idea!
Great review — I loved how George captured the surprise of each window in the Delysia advent calendar; the salted caramel one looked like a standout.
