Anne Rice’s Talamasca: The Secret Order Premieres Oct 26!
What is the Talamasca? Here is Wikipedia’s succinct explanation:
The Talamasca, sometimes known as the Order of the Talamasca, is a fictional secret society featured in Anne Rice’s Vampire Chronicles and Lives of the Mayfair Witches supernatural horror novel series. It is described as a secret society set up to research, investigate, observe and monitor the paranormal, in particular, vampires, witches, spirits and werewolves. Rice describes them as “psychic detectives”. Many vampiric characters from Rice’s novels once belonged to the Talamasca before accepting the “dark gift”.
The Talamasca is not a book series as is The Mayfair Witches and Interview with the Vampire. There are however enough mentions that writer John Lee Hancock could flesh out a new series created without any books from Anne Rice, and I cannot wait. I have been a fan of the supernatural since I was a kid last century, and this new entry into the mythology expanding that world is most welcome! I am a huge fan of The Mayfair Witches, and the Talamasca plays a big role in that series, and as always, I want more. And again, the Talamasca is not an organization made entirely made up of regular humans, many of them have some sort of power themselves, so hopefully the series will go long enough that we get to see how this was all created centuries ago!
It was an honor to meet William Fichtner. I had just binged eight seasons of the hit show “Mom,” in which he had been in playing a man in a wheelchair, a challenging addition to any role, and he was terrific. He was also in a scifi show called “Invasion,” another fan favorite of mine, among many, many others!
He said he binged the Vampire books to get a flavor for this new world and then spoke to Mark Johnson and was very excited to be in this world!
John Lee Hancock spoke about how they were creating their own world, since there was no book series to guide them, and with the information available from the other two series, they were able to be creative and fill in the blanks.
Nicholas Denton spoke about his character, one that was not in any book or series, and was also excited to now be in this world, and had the opportunity to provide a new perspective, essentially a character starting from scratch!
