Lego Advent Calendar Book Review!
It’s Christmas in July! We are celebrating with a series of advent calendars reviews to get the season started. Week 2 brings us a Lego advent calendar, but it’s not like the ones you’re used to seeing. This Lego advent calendar is a book of books!
The Lego Advent Calendar Activity Book Collection contains 24 numbered pockets. The pockets look like they’re made of Lego plates – great Lego theming. Each pocket contains a wrapped Lego-themed activity book, so, every day, you get to unwrap a small present. Well, I say wrapped, but it’s really a winter-themed sleeve. That counts, right?
Each activity book is a different theme (winter, Christmas, etc.) and each has 14 pages of activities with two pages of answers. The activities include mazes, puzzles, coloring pages, and more. Lots of Christmas fun for your little one!
TOP TIP: The pages are a bit glossy, so check one out before your littles start opening, so you can be sure to have the correct pens and coloring markers ready for when they are ready to do their “holiday homework.” Also, the print is rather fine so keep your magnifier handy in case you need to help your littles with the activities (or peek at the answers).
Our advent calendar tradition is to open the windows at night, when the day is done. It might be better to open these windows in the morning, though. With 14 pages of activities for each day, your littles (or you) will be able to work on the book throughout the day and be ready for a new one the following morning, rather than going to sleep as soon as you’ve opened up this cool little treasure or having bedtime “discussions” about whether or not to complete the activities now.
The Lego Advent Calendar Activity Book Collection is for ages 5+. The activities are geared for younger minds and the pages are pretty small (4” x 4.75”), but the book itself is very large. The dimensions are 14” x .5” x 21 inches and it weighs 3.2 pounds, so adult supervision is very much recommended.
TOP TIP: The cover of each of the books is shown on the back cover. You can use that to your advantage, by letting your littles choose which days they want to open based on the cover/theme. If they prefer surprises (or you want to avoid “discussions” about who opens which), you can choose not to reveal the back cover to them. Seriously, though, this is a BIG book, so make sure there is adult supervision.
