It’s still Christmas in July! We are celebrating with a series of advent calendar reviews to get the season started. Week 4 brings us the Insight Editions Disney Princess advent calendar. We’ve reviewed the Insight Editions Advent Calendars in previous years, but for Christmas in July, we’re reviewing their Disney Princess Advent Calendar.
The Insight Editions Disney Princess Advent Calendar is a pop-up book! When you open the advent calendar, a 13” Christmas tree pops up, ready to decorate. The advent calendar contains 25 numbered windows, plus a separate window for the Disney Princess Holiday Guidebook, which is marked by a book icon. The open advent calendar has a frosty background with silhouettes of eight Disney princesses. The text is by author Jessica Ward and the illustrations are by Giuseppe di Maio.
Each window contains an ornament, so, every day, your little gets to add an ornament to their very own Christmas tree. They can even guess which ornaments belong to which Disney Princess. My guess is that the apple ornament is Snow White. The final window contains the tree topper, so your Christmas tree will be complete on Christmas Day.
TOP TIP: If you need to close the book at any point (or every night or morning), put the ornaments back in their windows before closing the tree down. You can always take a picture of the ornaments on the tree before you do, so they can go back in the same position when you open the book up again.
The Disney Princess Holiday Guidebook is a storybook, called Disney Princess Enchanted Princess. There’s a story for each of the eight princesses, including their holiday wish lists, which is so adorable! I want a nutcracker of each of the seven dwarfs, too! After the stories, there’s a guide to each of the window’s ornaments, including which Disney Princess they belong to
TOP TOP:, If your little likes surprises, be sure to monitor their access to the guidebook, so they don’t get a peek at the ornaments before they’ve opened the calendar windows.
The Insight Editions Disney Princess Advent Calendar doesn’t have a recommended age range, but it’s probably better for ages 3+. The book itself and the ornaments are made of sturdy card, but the ornaments each have a slender thread for hooking them onto the tree. The Disney Princess Holiday Guidebook feels like magazine pages, so you definitely want to hold that for your little littles.
We’ll have an advent calendar review every week in July, so come back next week to see the next one or, better yet, subscribe and you’ll get a link in your mailbox to let you know when the next one is ready. Link to last week’s Advent Calendar post here!
