The Playmobil advent calendars are out now! This year’s Playmobil advent calendar is Trip to the Christmas Market and it really is just like visiting a German Christmas market.
What’s in the box?
The Playmobil advent calendar has 24 windows, each of which opens to reveal an element to build a Trip to the Christmas Market vignette. The box also includes the backdrop piece which ties all of the pieces together. There is also an instruction booklet, which helps with the construction of some of the small builds. Don’t read too far ahead, though, if you want each day to be a surprise. The details in Playmobil sets always get me. The most particular one in the Trip to the Christmas Market are the little cuffs that you slide onto the figures’ wrists, turning their shirts into sweaters. SO CUTE!!
The Trip to the Christmas Market includes an ice rink; little skates that slide onto the figures’ shoes; large gingerbread hearts on strings; and some really cute animals. As always, most of the individual elements from the Playmobil Trip to the Christmas Market advent calendars can be used any time of year, though Santa and the gorgeous Christmas tree might have to be stored away until next Christmas.
AND FOR THE KIDDIES!
The Playmobil Jr advent calendar is Snowy Christmas. As with the Playmobil Trip to the Christmas Market advent calendar, there are 24 windows to open. These reveal junior Playmobil characters and animals. A notable distinction between the figures is that the arms and legs are not articulated, the way the Playmobil figures are.
What’s in the Box?
An interesting feature of the Playmobil Jr Snowy Christmas advent calendar is the guide on the boxes oversleeve. It tells you exactly which pieces are in which window. Among the figures, there are a Santa; fairies (I love the purple one!), animals, and several disks that have footprints on one side and the type of animal that made them on the other side.

Another great feature of both the Playmobil Advent Calendar and the Playmobil Jr Advent Calendar is the hanging tab cut into the back of the box. When you pop out that tab and remove the cut-out pieces, you have a way to hang the advent calendar on the wall.
