Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings – Out Friday!
The fourth wave of the Marvel Universe is here, and I am al in for it. I have watched the television shows on Disney Plus, and the movie released so far, Black Widow. Marvel Entertainment produces some of the best movies available, and I cannot wait to see each new movie:
Marvel Studios’ “Shang-Chi and The Legend of The Ten Rings” stars Simu Liu as Shang-Chi, who must confront the past he thought he left behind when he is drawn into the web of the mysterious Ten Rings organization.
The film also stars Awkwafina as Shang-Chi’s friend Katy, with Michelle Yeoh as Ying Nan, and Tony Leung as Xu Wenwu, Shang-Chi’s father; as well as Meng’er Zhang, Fala Chen, Florian Munteanu, Benedict Wong, Yuen Wah, Ronny Chieng, Zach Cherry, and Dallas Liu.
Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings was fantastic. First, anything with Awkwafina gets a thumbs up from me, I am a huge fan of this actress/comedian from my hometown! She provides some great comic relief, and also shows us that she can hold her own in the Marvel Universe.
And then we have Simu Liu who we all fell in love with while watching the Netflix hit show, Kim’s Convenience! It is fantastic to see him enter the Marvel Universe! He was terrific in this movie, his choreographed fight scenes were incredible. He is also an excellent foil for Awkwafina, casting them together was brilliant!
Michelle Yeoh and Ronny Chieng, from one of my favorite movies ever, Crazy Rich Asians (Awkwafina was fabulous in that one as well) are always a treat o the big screen! And Benedict Wong, reprising his character from Dr. Strange gave me goosebumps. Worlds keep colliding in the Marvel Universe and it is done brilliantly, I cannot wait to see what comes next!
You might think this is a Marvel version of an Asian martial arts movie. I might have. This is not, this movie takes us to a world showcasing Asian mysticism, different than Dr. Strange, and very important to this fourth wave of the MCU. The martial arts is choreographed to perfection, and the mystical content has a role in said fighting, all coming together to create another Marvel masterpiece.
