10 years of flat screen televisions that were not smart, and one of which was only 780p. It was like the dark ages in here!
I spent a year going to my local Best Buy and chatting with the TV department folks, and finally took the plunge. So yes, that means we just replaced them after 11 years, I found the old receipts to confirm this info.
The last time I was in my Best Buy (Union Square, NYC location), I was told a specialist would come to my house for free to discuss our next move. I was shocked that this service was offered for free, no purchase necessary! Thanks to Andre at the Union Square store if anyone from Best Buy is reading this!
This is Luke Smith, Senior Consultant, photo printed with his permission. He stopped by with his mask on, and foot coverings. Perfectly safe for all involved. At our first meeting in my home, Luke measured the space for one of the TV’s (the space in the bedroom was limited, so I am glad we addressed this before any units came into the home!), and made suggestions on what TV’s to purchase. I later downgraded one of the models, so Luke met me in Best Buy to refund the difference in gift card form (hoarding gift cards from my Best Buy Ambassador days came in handy for this purchase!). I asked him to pose with our new Samsung Q series 50 inch TV! He was happy to be included in this article, especially after I showed him my Best Buy Instagrams, I love action shots in the store!
Melissa Roxburgh from NBC’s Manifest is so serious! We had to move furniture to get a 50 inch TV into our living room, this was the upgrade from the 32 inch unit 780p to the 50 inch 4K unit. Wow, what a huge difference! I might even be able to read the subtitles on my Netflix foreign shows now! Did I mention that Joshua from the Geek Squad was here installing both of these TV’s by himself? He sure earned that $1 dollar tip! (Kidding, that’s a joke from my dad, it was more than that!).
The bedroom now has a 43 inch Samsung, with a Netflix upgrade to HD. You see how the legs are a perfect fit? Thanks to Luke! I cannot wait to binge Lupin Season two!
I may have texted Luke a few more times, the front TV was not connecting to the TIVO, and he is still available for support to this day, he even emailed to say so! Luckily it was an RCN issue, which I handled with them.
Here are the TV’s that I purchased, first our new living room TV. The living room is not too wide, so this is as big as we thought would work:
Next, our bedroom TV:
And lastly, a Sound Bar for the living room as we are old and hard of hearing!
FYI, Best Buy has the best price matching, but in these cases, the prices were so love, I already had the best deal! SHOP NOW!
I also paid $200 for one year of total tech support. With a $50 installation fee of $50 per TV, this cost $300. Without the total tech support purchase, it would still have cost $300, so I am receiving a year of support for all of my electronics, and with two of our computers over four years old, this was another great score from Best Buy!
