When The Bold Type premiered, I had no interest and only watched the first episode because Aisha Dee was in it, and I loved her in Chasing Life, an earlier Freeform show. I was blown away with the way the show dealt with so many real issues! It has been wonderful to watch these young women deal with the world on their own terms. I am sad to see it go, and thanks to all involved for the great work they did:
Get a glimpse into the outrageous lives and loves of those responsible for the global women’s magazine, “Scarlet.” The rising generation of Scarlet women leans on one another as they find their own voices in a sea of intimidating leaders. Together they explore sexuality, identity, love and fashion.
And I met some of them!

The show covered a wide range of real world topics, it dealt with so many issues facing the female population. From orgasms (or the lack thereof), to infertility and breast cancer, to sexuality. And so much more, I never liked the comparisons to Sex and the City because The Bold Type was more about all aspects of these ladies lives, far more than just their sex lives, and not always a comedy. But always powerful and poignant. Hugely well written series!
And it was all handled wonderfully by the three main actresses Meghann, Aisha, and Katie. And their mentor, the head of Scarlet Magazine, as played by Melora Hardin, had an increasingly important role in the show, and she was always brilliant!
Their are six remaining episodes of ‘The Bold Type,’ beginning with the season 5 premiere tonight, May 26th on Freeform and the next day on Hulu!
