My friends wrote a book and I am thrilled to share it here with you!
I met Tommy Riles through my activity in the blog world, He is part of the huge dad blog, Life of Dad! We have worked together and been friends for years. He is also the warm up guy for The Ellen Show! Through this friendship I also met Tom’s wife Lucy. She started Life of Mom! Lucy and I have been able to bond at several conferences as well. Read on to find out about her television debut later this year!
Tom and Lucy are very talented and funny, and they decided to take their humor on the road! Before the pandemic hit, they did a stage show about the funny parts of their relationship and family life, and now they have put it into book form for everyone to bring into their own home! It is relatable material for all of us who are married with children, and entertaining for everyone else! It fits in perfectly with my motto of, if I don’t laugh, I am going to cry. Relationships with spouses and kids, and all the work necessary to keep the family moving forward, is not easy, so we need to share that with each other, and laugh about it so we do not take it all too serious, but rather remember to enjoy the ride:
This book is meant to be fun, to help you and your partner acknowledge and laugh together over the things that make you different. The fact that we’ve gotten to a place in our marriage where we can laugh and tease each other about petty, quirky habits is an absolute blessing…we know this and we don’t take it for granted. We’ve known loss, despair, and heartbreak. But we are living, breathing examples that there can be JOY after loss and HOPE after despair and you will genuinely be able to LAUGH again after heartbreak.
When we started covering all of the topics we’re about to discuss in this book in our stage show and on our podcast, we were surprisingly overwhelmed with how relatable it seemed to be to other couples and parents. When the little things start to feel like big things in the heat of the moment, know that they’re not. It’s not a deal breaker. Agree to disagree, find the laughter and levity in it, and then get on with loving each other!

I was also thrilled to see my pals on the Ellen show!
I loved the book. I could relate to almost everything! I have been married for 28 years, and our son is 17 1/2, so we have gone through a lot of the funny, and some of the not so funny things that the Riles have gone through. This book is very relatable, and also helpful, we are all going through similar things!
And stay tuned! Lucy Riles and the family dog will be part of a series on Amazon Prime later this month:
The Pack is a reality-competition, action adventure show hosted by Olympic skier Lindsey Vonn and featuring dogs and their owners going around the world and completing exciting missions for charity and showing the strength of the bond between humans and their pets! In honor of the show, Amazon and The Pack are creating a weekend of dog & human experiences and treats to celebrate dog and human bonds called Packed Weekend (Nov. 20-22)!
Thrilled for my friends and their new book!
