Barbie Forever – The Must Own Coffee Table Book!
She had always been iconic. Now she is a trailblazer, continuing to change along with society, mirroring what we see in the real world. Plus, Barbie and I were both born in 1959, Happy 60th Birthday to us (she has aged much better than I)!
Barbie Forever explores how the doll came to be, what it takes to create her many looks, and her legacy’s continuing global influence. Since her debut in 1959, Barbie has been breaking boundaries and highlighting major moments in art, fashion, and culture. She has been an interpreter of taste and style and has reflected female empowerment through the more than 200 careers she has embodied. Barbie Forever: Her Inspiration, History, and Legacy presents a detailed, full-color portrait of this beloved doll through all-new interviews, original sketches, vintage photos, advertisements, and much more. A double-sided foldout timeline showcases important moments in Barbie history. Explore how the doll came to be, what it takes to create one of her many looks, and how her legacy continues to influence the world.
I have been collecting Barbie dolls for years. They are the perfect collectible, just do not open that box! Other Barbie’s that I receive as a blogger do get gifted; last year at an event Mattel was super generous with their new line and my three year old niece received two Barbie dolls: one was computer scientist Barbie, the other was Doctor Barbie. Our female population must grow up with role models covering every profession, and the Barbie doll line reflects that!
Author and historian Robin Gerber has created the consummate coffee table Barbie book, Barbie Forever, the most detailed, full-color portrait of this beloved doll! Perfect for every fan of Barbie, there are hours and hours of great info on this iconic doll, this is the perfect holiday gift for the Barbie lover in your life!
