Throwback to my last head cold!
In the past I have done a better job of fighting colds and flu with natural remedies that I still use, and in these freezing cold temeperatures where our immune systems seem more susceptible to germs and viruses, this is still important.
First, this is not sponsored, this is just my number one tool for fighting colds:
I have read that the cold bug cannot grow on a surface where there is zinc. So I coat my throat with zinc. Sometimes it is quite unpleasant, but I feel that I am shortening the duration of the cold. There are also lozenges with zinc that work.
Black elderberry extract is supposed to be a flu deterrent, discovered by Israeli scientists. I use this under several brand names, Sambucus, Sambucol, etc. I think it helps.
I read last year that taking vitamin D helps. It did last year, it didn’t last month when I had a cold. Or, it did help, just not as much.
Lastly, I am not a doctor, I just try to go for the natural remedies before I grab medicines. When I had my December cold in 2017, I also bough a nettie pot to help with cleaning my sinuses, and it is still in the box. People swear by those things! All of the above info I shared can be googled if you need more information.
Also, I wrote about products from a new company I met, Bee & You. They have a terrific line of products using bee propolis, honey, and more:
BEE & YOU harnesses the power of propolis, a natural bee product, in its purest form to provide you with great antioxidant content. Propolis contains powerful and proven antibacterial, antibiotic and antiseptic properties that keep a bee colony healthy by killing germs inside the hive. Shown to have anti-inflammatory effects, BEE & YOU Propolis Raw Honey Throat Spray provides immune support as it helps treats throat irritations, coughs, colds and flu. This is an all natural antibiotic.
This article is all about natural ways to prevent, slow down, and cure your ailments! I also use garlic to clean my blood, oregano oil to purify, and any other herbal supplement that I read might help, I hate being sick!
And of course have a supply of Puffs Plus Lotion facial tissues on hand, no one wants a red nose from wiping and blowing too hard during cold & flu season!
