Don’t get sick!
ha.
Seriously, I eat a lot of garlic, that cleans the blood and helps keep germs away.
I also suck on zinc lozenges because cold germs cannot breed on a surface, like your throat, that has zinc on it. I also supplement with a zinc throat spray to get it right onto the affected area, Cold-eeze makes a great one and there are less expensive generics available.
Some swear by oregano oil, I am going to have to get some to fight my current cold!
Black elderberry extract is supposed to be a flu deterrent, discovered by Israeli scientists. I use this under several brand names, Sambucus, Sambucol, etc. I think it helps. My son likes the various gummie versions out there.
I read last year that taking vitamin D helps.
Lastly, I am not a doctor, I just try to go for the natural remedies before I grab medicines. When I had my December cold in 2017, I also bough a nettie pot to help with cleaning my sinuses, and it is still in the box. People swear by those things! All of the above info I shared can be googled if you need more information.
Also, I just wrote about products from a new company I met, Bee & You. They have a terrific line of products using bee propolis, honey, and more:
BEE & YOU harnesses the power of propolis, a natural bee product, in its purest form to provide you with great antioxidant content. Propolis contains powerful and proven antibacterial, antibiotic and antiseptic properties that keep a bee colony healthy by killing germs inside the hive. Shown to have anti-inflammatory effects, BEE & YOU Propolis Raw Honey Throat Spray provides immune support as it helps treats throat irritations, coughs, colds and flu. This is an all natural antibiotic.
This article is all about natural ways to prevent, slow down, and cure your ailments!
And of course have a supply of Puffs Plus Lotion facial tissues on hand, no one wants a red nose from wiping and blowing too hard during cold & flu season!
I would love to try some of these remedies and I am sure your family’s secret homemade soup is part of the get well routine as well.
Thanks for the good ideas on natural products to fight colds and the flu. I take vitamin D regularly, but have also heard about the benefit of zinc products. I think I’ll add them to my medicine cabinet this year.
