We previewed Crazy Rich Asians last week, and all I could think about when I left the theater was, when can I see this movie again? It was that entertaining and fun to watch! I laughed throughout, and also almost cried a few times, this is a very moving picture as well, not just one filled with a lot of laughter. I cannot recommend this movie highly enough!
The story follows New Yorker Rachel Chu (Constance Wu) as she accompanies her longtime boyfriend, Nick Young (Henry Golding), to his best friend’s wedding in Singapore. Excited about visiting Asia for the first time but nervous about meeting Nick’s family, Rachel is unprepared to learn that Nick has neglected to mention a few key details about his life. Not only is he the scion of one of the country’s wealthiest families, but also one of its most sought-after bachelors. Being on Nick’s arm puts a target on Rachel’s back, with jealous socialites and, worse, Nick’s own disapproving mother (Michelle Yeoh) taking aim.
“It soon becomes clear that the only thing crazier than love is family, in this funny and romantic story sure to ring true for audiences everywhere.”
Rachel joins her boyfriend and heads to Singapore. While in town she meets up with her old college friend, a delightful character played wonderfully and comedically on point, Awkwafina. They spend some time in her family’s home which is quite opulent, when Rachel finds out that this is nothing compared to the riches of her boyfriends family, something she knew nothing about as he had kept this secret. But back to Awkwafina, who’s father in the movie is played by Ken Jeong.
Do I have to say anything else? That whole family is hilarious! Go see this movie!

This sounds like a great movie. I had een a few trailers for it on TV and thought it was very refreshing to see Asian characters in such an entertaining plot. We usually do not go to movies, we wait for the DVD but if I had a chance to go I certainly would. #sweepstakes
