We previewed Ant-Man and The Wasp last week and it is the next Marvel blockbuster! It is as terrific as the first, which was excellent. Great humor coupled with my favorite genre, science fiction! Paul Rudd as Ant-Man is hilarious, and the perfect every day hero. Paul Rudd is back as former burglar, Scott Lang. He is under house arrest for a crime that we have never heard of, something that fits between the time-line of the two Ant-Man movies. That explains the Easter egg at the end of the first movie. Hank Pym and his daughter Hope van Dyne are also in trouble with the law, and they stay hidden so as to avoid arrest. Everyone is called to action, something they have been trying to avoid so as to not blow their cover. Hank Pym is trying to continue his research on the quantum realm as he thinks he can find his wife who was lost in their many years earlier, and someone is after his tech.
From the Marvel Cinematic Universe comes ANT-MAN AND THE WASP, a new chapter featuring heroes with the astonishing ability to shrink. In the aftermath of CAPTAIN AMERICA: CIVIL WAR, Scott Lang grapples with the consequences of his choices as both a Super Hero and a father. As he struggles to rebalance his home life with his responsibilities as Ant-Man, he’s confronted by Hope van Dyne and Dr. Hank Pym with an urgent new mission. Scott must once again put on the suit and learn to fight alongside the Wasp as the team works together to uncover secrets from the past.
ANT-MAN AND THE WASP is directed by Peyton Reed and stars Paul Rudd, Evangeline Lilly, Michael Pena, Walton Goggins, Bobby Cannavale, Judy Greer, Tip “T.I.” Harris, David Dastmalchian, Hannah John Kamen, Abby Ryder-Fortson, Randall Park, with Michelle Pfeiffer, with Laurence Fishburne and Michael Douglas.
I loved Michael Pena in the first Ant-Man, and he is just as wonderful in this movie. Once again he does the voice-overs as the narrator of these long winded stories that are pure entertainment. It was delicious!
Paul Rudd has some wonderful moments with his daughter. I could feel the parental love between the two.
The movie was fast paced and the story was fresh. We had a blast and as always loved Stan Lee’s cameo. I hope they film extras and include him in Marvel movies forever.
And then there were the Easter Eggs. One was cute, and one was so mind numbing it rates as the most powerful Easter Egg I have ever seen in a Marvel movie. Ever.
Marvel Studios’ ANT-MAN AND THE WASP opens in theaters everywhere on July 6th!
