I write about Shadowhunters on Freeform as often as possible because I love this show, and I love that I get to bond with my teenage son while watching it. And bonus, I got him to read some of the fantastic books that the series is based on!
I have also had the thrill, honor, and joy to meet the cast at the last three NYC ComicCon’s! I remember the first time, before the show had started, and I told everyone that it would be a big fat hit! And I was right!
The story lines are perfect for someone like me who loves the supernatural. Shadowhunters rejuvenates the genre, I find the whole Shadowhunters world to be fresh and new, and I applaud Cassandra Clare for creating this universe! And not just because my son and I identify with the vampire who is Jewish (Simon Lewis, played by Alberto Rossende), which is a first!
The wait is also over, Season Three premieres on March 20th. I spoke to some of the cast, and, spoiler alert, season three will follow Book Four from the series, so catch up on your reading now!
I also looked for any information that I could share with you for this upcoming season. I sat down with Isaiah Mustafa and Alisha Wainwright to find out what our favorite werewolves were planning.
To put it simply, here are hints of what’s coming. Alisha shared that Maia’s “rom-com” was over. There was some drama with Maia and her werewolf troubles, but her story line was pretty tame. That is going to change this season! And Isaiah shared that there are some huge emotional scenes for his character, Luke Garroway. I would speculate that there might be throwbacks to his days with Clary’s mom, Jocelyn, although that was not mentioned. Just my prediction. And is Jocelyn really gone?
No Shadowhunter is safe from this blogger’s iPhone camera, I was thrilled to get another picture with Isaiah (I ran into him just a few months earlier at D23!) and Alisha!
We were in the bowels of Madison Square Garden and these cast members had just come from their ComicCon panel. They were as gracious as they are every year, and having Matthew Daddario remember me is an extra. I may have a tiny fanboy crush!
Katherine McNamara mentioned that this is the season that everyone protects Alec Lightwood. He bent the rules a few too many times and sometimes let emotions affect his decision making, but what do you expect from someone dating a Warlock! We were told to expect a lot more horror and suspense this season. Coming attractions show us that there is going to be some major demon trouble, I am not looking forward to finding out if Clary’s demon sibling gets resurrected by what appears to be the Queen of the Demons.
There is some scary stuff coming and I cannot wait!
So set the alarm and get ready for your Tuesday nights to be busy with Season Three of Shadowhunters as it returns on March 20th at 8 p.m., EST on Freeform TV!
It is always an honor to hang out and chat with these folks!
