Can’t wait to see “Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle” when it opens on December 20? Me neither! So I am heading to Sony Square NYC for a special treat!
In the brand-new adventure Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle, the game has changed as four teenagers in detention are sucked into the world of Jumanji. When they discover an old video game console with a game they’ve never heard of, they decide to play and are immediately thrust into the game’s jungle setting, in the bodies of the avatar characters they chose (Dwayne Johnson, Jack Black, Kevin Hart, and Karen Gillan). What they discover is that you don’t just play Jumanji – Jumanji plays you. To win, they’ll have to go on the most dangerous adventure of their lives, or they’ll be stuck in the game forever…
Sony Square has opened a new interactive exhibit that enables visitors to help save Jumanji through an interactive game that utilizes haptic technology from Sony, which recreates the sense of touch by producing dynamic and expressive vibrations.
For this exhibit, visitors put on 3D glasses and a haptic vest, pick a character for the game, and get “dropped” into the jungle. The goal of the game is to retrieve a jewel that will protect Jumanji from grave danger. But the quest is not easy. There are animals in the jungle that stand in the way of success. As the player travels through the game, the haptic vest will enable them to feel the stones, branches and coconuts the animals throw at them to slow their pursuit of the jewel.
The Jumanji exhibit will be featured at Sony Square NYC now through January 8, 2018:
The Jumanji experience is restricted to those over six years old. Children under 13 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Sony Square NYC is located at 25 Madison Avenue and is open to the public Monday through Saturday, from 10 a.m. – 7 p.m., and Sundays from 11 a.m. – 6 p.m. For more information, visit www.sony.com/square-nyc/.

I loved Jumanji before. I hope this one is just as good! The concept will still be there.

We still have a Jumanji game from way back when because it was one of my family’s favorite movies. I am looking forward to the new one.
