I have attended several of these events over the past few years and they are very nostalgic for me! I have been the primary caregiver since we adopted our son at birth, and had to do a lot of quick research when he was born! As adoptive parents we did not have much time to prepare! But I knew I needed Pampers right away!
And I wish there were these Biggest Baby Shower events back then! I was clueless, and had a steep learning curve. I guess we did OK because our son is now 14!
My favorite part of this event is visiting the booths of all the brands that we used. Every brand that helped us raise our son, will always have a special place in our hearts. They are highlighted here, but there are also many other brands represented so check out the website for more information at Big City Moms, look for the tab that says Biggest Baby Shower Events, these events are held all over the country!
Peg Perego was the baby carriage we bought the day after we returned home with our son. I still remember walking up Avenue A in the east village with that gorgeous stroller, in blue of course, pushed by my father-in-law. I suspect that he and my dad did not do a lot of stroller pushing with their own kids, but the memory I have is that they always wanted to push their grandson in his stroller. We were in love with all things Italian, so we also added the Peg Perego high chair!
Eventually we graduated to the Inglesina Zippy. I loved how easy it was to pull on that stroller to pack it up into a carry size! When Paul was finally big enough to walk all the time, I still held onto this one for a full year longer!
Picking a baby bottle back then was easy. My sister-in-law was pregnant with her third child, so I asked her to guide me. She said I have to use Dr. Brown’s baby bottles, so I did! It worked perfectly for us with…
Enfamil with Lipil. I will never forget the generosity of the hospital where our son was born, they gave me two cases of the small bottles for newborns. Breast feeding was not an option for two dads!
And don’t forget the other modes of travel,
And,
Lastly, our favorite store, in the neighborhood we had just left, because we needed more space! We were back and forth across town several times a week, No one had more clothes and baby supplies than our son!
Again, this is just a sampling of the companies with booths at the event. There are many more. There are also contests, raffles, swag bags, and tons of information to help those expecting, and those with small children, this is a terrific investment for all parents!
Disclosure: I received no compensation for this post. But I had a lot of fun!
