Just as a reminder, ENERGY STAR® refers to the standard for energy efficient consumer products originated in the United States. Especially with washers and dryers, you want to know you are using ENERGY STAR rated items because the whole world is working on more efficiency with products that require water consumption and that use electrical or any other power source. The by-product for the consumer is that YOU SAVE MONEY! And where is the best place to save money? “Best Buy is committed to positively impacting the environment and its communities. Best Buy provides their customers with a wide assortment of sustainable products. This includes offering a large selection of energy-efficient products, including ENERGY STAR certified electronics and appliances.”
Why ENERGY STAR You Ask?
-ENERGY STAR laundry machines are better for your clothes & family, and better for your environment. What could be more important?
-ENERGY STAR certified washers and dryers use less energy. That quickly translates to you saving money on your energy bills. The additional by-product is that using less energy is also good for the environment! And so many of these efficient machines contain advanced features, that cleaning and drying becomes easier and more effective. Sounds like a win/win situation in many ways!
-ENERGY STAR certified products use less energy, use less water, and therefore help the environment. This is a benefit that helps our kids and our planet for years and years to come!
-ENERGY STAR washers use a variety of sophisticated cleaning methods that are gentler on your clothes, while ENERGY STAR dryers use less heat and sensor drying which reduces wear and tear on clothes from over drying. Sounds like more money savings from ENERGY STAR machines!
ENERGY STAR Laundry:
-Clothes washers and dryers with this certification deliver superior efficiency and performance by incorporating advanced features.
-ENERGY STAR certified clothes washers and dryers are 25% and 20% more efficient, respectively, than standard models.
-Save $490 over the lifetime of an ENERGY STAR certified clothes washer and even more with an ENERGY STAR washer/dryer pair. Check out Best Buy’s video to illustrate why ENERGY STAR is the way to go, and learn so much more about this important rating!
ENERGY STAR Washers:
-Clothes washers that have earned the ENERGY STAR use 25% less energy and approximately 45% less water than standard models.
*top-load machines clean your clothing just like standard models without wasting water to fill up the tub. Instead, these machines use sophisticated wash systems to cycle clothes through a mixture of water and detergent, allowing the clothes to be cleaned without using excess water or detergent.
*Front-load machines tumble clothes through a small amount of water instead of rubbing clothes against an agitator, while advanced top-load machines lift and tumble clothes through a reduced stream of water. Both designs dramatically reduce the amount of hot water and energy used in the wash cycle.
-A new ENERGY STAR certified clothes washer will save you about $45 a year on your utility bills compared to a standard model.
-Over the lifetime of the product, an ENERGY STAR certified clothes washer saves on natural gas usage, up to 33,000 galloons of water, and $490 over the lifetime of the product:
If all clothes washers sold in the U.S. were ENERGY STAR certified, we would save more than $4 billion each year and prevent more than 19 billion pounds of carbon pollution annually. This is equal to the emissions from 1.7 million vehicles.
Did I mention this is a win/win situation? Money saved on electrical bills, greater waster efficiency, a healthier planet for our kids, and we save money
ENERGY STAR Dryers:
-Clothes dryers that have earned the ENERGY STAR use approximately 20% less energy than standard models. Less energy means you save money and the world’s energy needs are lessened!
If all clothes dryers sold in the U.S. were ENERGY STAR certified, the energy cost savings would grow to more than $1.5 billion each year and 22 billion pounds of annual carbon pollution would be prevented. This is equal to the emissions from 2 million vehicles.
AND, ENERGY STAR certified clothes dryers incorporate the following advanced features:
Low Heat Setting– Longer drying cycles on a low heat setting use less energy: that is how less energy is used! When you purchase an ENERGY STAR certified clothes dryer, look for the cycle that uses the least amount of energy, sometimes known as the “energy-saving” selection.
Steam Cycles– Many ENERGY STAR dryers also include convenient features, such as a steam cycle that can help save time on ironing clothes by preventing wrinkles. Save time? Less ironing? Count me in!

These washers look great
Almost everything in my house is energy Star rated there is still a few that are not. I am slowly replacing everything with energy Star rated appliances. I would love to have that washer.
We have been debating on upgrading our super old washer and dryer. This looks like would be a great option.
We have replaced all the appliances in our home since buying our house. We always buy EnergyStar rated products because why not?
I love the steam cycle – I hate ironing!
I really do need an upgrade to Energy Star Rated appliances, I could use new washing machine and dryer, it sure would cut down energy costs. Thanks for sharing these options from Best Buy!
My washing machine has actually been recalled, so I need to start looking for a new one. These have come a far way even from when I bought mine a few years ago. I would love a new washer, bonus that they are energy efficient!
