Where do you start when describing a Halloween party at Walt Disney World? Amazing decorations, free candy everywhere, great photo opps, and FUN!
We happened to be at the right place at the right time. We were on vacation at Walt Disney World during the first week of parties for Halloween. You might be as well, so remember these dates: parties remaining for this year, and an idea of dates when planning next years trip:
-August 25 and 29, 2017
-September 1, 7, 10, 12, 15, 17, 19, 22, 24, 26 and 29, 2017
-October 1, 3, 5, 6, 9, 10, 12, 13, 15, 17, 19, 20, 22, 24, 26, 27, 29 and 31, 2017
-November 1, 2017
We were handed a trick or treat bag soon after we entered the park, and started to collect candy at kiosks all over The Magic Kingdom. As a parent who has never stopped trick or treating, this was fantastic! I am the dad that took out his six month old kid in a costume and collected for him 14 years ago. I also ate it for him back then and continue to do so. Thanks to Mars for the never ending supply of candy! Note, allergy free stations are available as well!
Did I mention that we entered through a special walk way with special Halloween decorations?
And
The party starts at 7 p.pm., all other folks have to leave the park. We arrived earlier than that as I wanted to be ready to go! Do not forget to eat dinner before hand, you do not want to waste time on a meal once the festivities have begun! Also, note that there will be shorter lines for all open rides since there will be less people in the Magic Kingdom!
Another highlight of this party is the character photo opportunities that are not offered throughout the year.
I was thrilled for this one! There are 10 other pictures of meeting these guys before hand, and trying to run off with some of their jewels, but you will have to stayed tuned for those photos!
And then we found this lovely lady:
Did I mention there was a lot of candy?
There are also special shows and parades and fireworks: the Hocus Pocus Villain Spelltacular, the Happy HalloWishes Fireworks Show, and Mickey’s “Boo-to-You” Halloween Parade. You might also catch the singing act of the Cadaver Dans Barbershop Quartet! We did see the start of the Hocus Pocus show, and my son was having fun singing along to one of his favorite songs from the Princess and the Frog, but then some rain started to fall. Safety first at Disney, all the time, so the show was delayed. That’s when we headed to Space Mountain and found out that one of the other exciting opportunities available is running into friends and their families!
This was my third time in six weeks seeing my blog friend Tara!
We had a great evening, especially with all the people watching, the dress up of the other party goers was fantastic, my favorites were some of the folks dressed up as the characters from Inside Out! I highly recommend booking tickets to this special event at Walt Disney World, it was a very special evening for my family, and five hours of pure delightful, sugary fun!

My boys liked Mickey Mouse Clubhouse when they were little. I like the theme song by They Might Be Giants.
