It is a Summer of Heroes at Disneyland’s California Adventure, and for two evenings in a row after our daily D23 Expo adventures, we got to enjoy the parks and check out our favorite heroes! First we had to see how the folks protecting our Galaxy were faring at Guardians of the Galaxy – Mission: BREAKOUT!
There is always a line at this new ride (the old Tower of Terror), and there is good reason. They have woven the Guardians of the Galaxy story into this ride, to perfection. First, as you weave through the line (one of the many wonderful aspects of the Disney Parks is the brilliant way they have turned waiting in the queue into a Disney experience all its own!). Artifacts, portraits, and actual pieces from the movie are on display:
And I believe our heroes were in trouble, Rocket Raccoon was also trying to ask for help:
Yes! Our favorite Guardians had gotten themselves in trouble again!
Help them!
The visual effects all around, voiced by the actors from the movie, making this adventure into a terrific ride!
And boy, were we hungry afterwards! Without missing a beat, we went looking for some food, and look what we found! I Am Groot Bread! This sour dough loaf had black olives for eyes and jalapeno-cheddar hair, and is as popular as the ride! The Summer of Heroes also introduced us to Hulk inspired tacos and spinal-fluid shave ice, but the Groot bread is the hottest seller! And they are baked on property!
No one wants to ever hurt Groot, but he is delicious with queso!
And this is a photo opp I have not seen before, in addition to Captain America, there was Hawkeye! He was headed in for the evening, but we told him we just had to take this picture! They also have Black Widow and Spider-Man on hand!
Lastly, I missed the Guardians dance-off, but will be sure to return to join Star-Lord and Gamora dance to the tunes from Peter Quill’s boombox!

Disclosure: Disney invited me on this press trip and paid all of my expenses. No other compensation was received. All opinions are always 100% my own and honest.
I think the Groot bread is creative and fun! Thanks for taking a pic and sharing.
Looks like there were lots of entertainment style heroes around the grounds!
