This is a guest post article from my friend Grace. I love this kit because I want to be able to survive anything, and this goes right into my preparedness kit! Please consider getting one for your home, and for those great outdoor trips!
Quality family times are often hard to find in today’s busy world but so important for a balanced family life. Creating quality family times do not have to be expensive! Sometimes all one has to do is take a trip to a state park, camping site or favorite fishing hole to unplug from technology and say hello to nature. Transitioning a child from interests using apps from technology to interests in using hands on skills that improve their thinking, motor reflexes and organizational abilities are successful when gearing the life lessons towards an activity they will enjoy. Most children enjoy learning to build fires to roast wieners and make s’mores. Starting fires and fire safety may not only ignite flames on gathered wood but also start a fire within a child that develops into a love of nature by appreciating wild life, the natural habitat and building an interest for a career in environmental science. Proper knowledge of building a fire and fire safety are skills that will be used for enjoyment and possibly survival throughout life.
Starting out with a fire starter kit is a fun way to begin the process because it gives the adult the opportunity to teach about the tools used in the kit and the importance of having material on hand to start fires when not available in one’s present location. The Acme Survival team sent a kit to Mitch so he and his spouse could enjoy quality family times while teaching basic life lessons on fire starting and fire safety to their son.
Our kit includes:
1. AcmeSurvival Brand collectible tin box.
2. Wire saw – cuts wood, plastic and p.v.c.
3. Ferrocerium Rod & striker (fire steel)
4. Fat sack of magnesium chips (2 grams)
5. Razor blade (for obvious reasons)
6. 10 waterproof matches
7. Match striker on inside of tin box
8. Dryer Lent (no pets— no smoke— no softener—- no “scents” just
clean clothes)
9. 2 cotton balls slathered in grade A petroleum jelly.
10. 4 2”x2” pieces of char cloth
The collectible tin box holds tools and materials needed for starting fires on camping or other outdoor activities where fires will be needed. Materials such as: magnesium chips, dryer lent, char cloth or cotton balls with petroleum jelly already applied are great sources to get a fire started when no other resources are available to get a strong flame ignited before adding fire wood. The abundance of supplies also makes it possible to start other fires later before needing to refresh supplies.
The wire saw cuts needed wood for adding to the fire and is strong enough to even cut p.v.c. The Ferrocerium rod and striker can be probably be used over 100 times and is a great tool to teach fire starter lessons on outdoor outings. The waterproof matches are a necessity when needing to start fires in damp conditions.
Spending quality times with the kids does not have to be expensive because our Acme Survival kits are available for $11.50 with free shipping at eBay and are jam packed with resources to ignite those fires out doors along with starting those inner flames for the love of the outdoors for great quality family times.

Thanks so much Mitch for sharing our post. You are one of our favorite friends so of course we want you to survive in any situation that arises.
Survival is one important thing! I’d certainly need to add food and water to my survival pack.
I have some outdoor loving people in my family who like to hike, ski and kayak so this would be very important for them to have a kit like this.
