This company had me sold when they told me they were part of the first moon landing!
For over 50 years, Plantronics has been on the forefront of audio innovation; always driven by a single obsession: to remove the barriers to simple, clear communication. Learn more about our story, purpose and the people behind our approach. It all began in a garage in 1961 when two airline pilots set out to invent an alternative to the conventional headsets of commercial aviation. The product Courtney Graham and Keith Larkin created in that tiny garage in Santa Cruz, California was more than just the world’s first lightweight headset. It was the birth of a company called Plantronics, and the first of a half-century of breakthroughs in communications.
Plantronics was the first headset in outer space, when astronaut Wally Schirra chose to use the MS50 for the Mercury mission, adapting the lightweight model to fit inside his helmet. Then Plantronics made history when Neil Armstrong walked on the moon and uttered those legendary words: through a Plantronics headset.
After that, when I was told that these headphones could be used wirelessly or connected, then I knew this was perfect for my family. I am old and fussy and would rather not be bothered with constantly charging wireless headphones or earbuds. But that’s just me. My teenage son feels exactly opposite and only wants wireless. That is why the fact that this Plantronics headset can be used both ways is perfect for a family like mine! And if you go wireless, we are talking about 18 hours without a charge.
The next hot selling point is the price. At $79.99,these quality headphones are about a third of the price of other comparable brands! I am thrilled with my BackBeat 500 headphones:
Features:
Memory foam
Wireless range
18 hours of listening and talk time
40 mm drivers with Plantronics signature audio
Wideband-enabled mic
On-ear controls
Connect multiple devices
Stay charged with DeepSleep mode
3.5 mm jack
Quick and easy set up
And they also have many other products to suit your needs, from business to personal. I met the Plantronics folks at a recent electronics event and was offered my choice of headphones for easy listening or for gaming. It was an easy decision to make the choice for myself, I use my headphones for listening to TV at the gym, or movies on the road. My son would have loved a pair for his gaming, but he will have to wait for next time!
And then I mentioned the event to a friend who quickly responded that this was the brand of her headsets at work! She works for a major corporation, and Plantronics is filling that company’s needs as well.
