I was invited to a mystery event the other day and was thrilled to find out that it was sponsored by BJ’s Wholesale!
It’s no secret that I like to buy in bulk and “store” (not hoard) a lot of products in my home. It is also no secret that I am a couponer and love to save money. Today was the perfect opportunity to teach my son how that all works!
Many name brand companies will do private label work for other stores. You might buy a store’s house brand and never know that the manufacturer that you love, also does the private label. This is in addition to the fact that an ingredient is an ingredient. I stopped spending money on name brand allergy pills year ago, the money savings on the house brands at BJ’s Wholesale are too great. The same holds true for disinfecting wipes. My spouse goes through so many that sometimes I think he is eating them. That gets expensive, so I save money with the Berkley Jensen house brand at BJ’s Wholesale.
Almost every type of item can be purchased for less when you buy the house brand!
BJ’s Wholesale also has a private label for their food items, Wellsley Farms. We love snacking on their dried fruit, and I love cooking up quinoa side dishes as often as possible. Quinoa is a super food! Lastly, we go through a lot of K-cups. I don’t need a name brand on my coffee, I just need caffeine inside!
My son was happy to join us on this shopping trip because he has bought clothes at BJ’s Wholesale before. He found a pair of Levi’s for half the price of a regular retail store. We went to one such store afterwards, for another job, so we saw that price differential just a half hour later.
And I love couponing at BJ’s Wholesale. They send me a coupon book every three to four weeks. You can add manufacturers coupons on top of that! We in the trade call that stacking, Our bill was $211. After coupons we paid $160. First, I asked Paul how much we saved, and then I asked him to estimate the percent saved. Approximately 25%. I explained that saving that amount, at a less expensive store, is like hitting a homerun! He got the analogy, plus I got him to do a math problem!
