The above picture was taken at a private event at Blogher16 with McDonalds. They spoke of their healthy food initiatives, they shared about their supply chain stresses (getting enough apples for the happy meals does not happen overnight!), and we heard from the McDonald’s chef in the home office!
What was most informative to me was the fact that there are regional menus at McDonald’s! I knew there was a pasta bar at the Villa McDonald’s in Rome, Italy, but I did not know they had this all over America! And then I heard New England McDonald restaurants had lobster rolls. I was in a state of shock. Such a fancy item for McDonald’s! I was also interested because my son was in sleep away camp in New England and I knew what my new mission was!
And then I found it at our first stop in Mystic, CT!
It was as fresh as any lobster I have ever had, and it was a generous portion. Wow, who would have ever thought that McDonald’s restaurants all over New England had lobster rolls!
I ate it in Mystic, CT, and then on the way home with my son, this time in Darien, CT, at the rest stop, only a few miles outside of NYC!
Price varies by area, which is understandable, we were no longer near the shore.
The truth is out there, McDonald’s all over America, and the world, have regional specialties, and the regional specialties are delicious!

Here in California the new thing at McD’s is Gilroy Garlic fries. I haven’t tried them yet, but I will be!
