My son and I saw The Jungle Book and loved it. My son was very excited to see this movie as it reminded him of his childhood, after all, he grew up on the animated version. This Jungle Book is a live action film and is a more adult, darker Jungle Book. The story is similar, a man cub is trying to survive in the wilds of the jungle. Most animals help Mowgli except a few, and the most fearsome enemy is Shere Khan, the tiger, who is instead trying to kill him. Some parts of this movie are dark and threatening, not at all reminiscent of the animated version I saw growing up! Mowgli also had to watch out for snakes and giant gorillas!
And again, I add this to every single Blu-ray post I write about. It is all about the bonus features:
Venture behind the scenes with in-depth bonus features that reveal the innovative filmmaking technology used to create the richly immersive jungle world and characters; Follow the journey of the film’s only on-screen actor, charismatic newcomer Neel Sethi (Mowgli); Delve into a candid and humorous scene-by-scene audio commentary with director Jon Favreau and meet the all-star voice cast who help bring the film’s colorful characters to life, as well as the musicians who accent the adventure with a majestic music score.
Last week I wrote about my behind the scenes interviews with the Jungle Book Producer Brigham Taylor and Visual Effect Supervisor Rob Legato. They are part of a wonderful 30 interview on this disc with Director Jon Favreau! You will not want to miss that! Watching how the movie was made with the CGI as only a thought, is always incredible to me. Watching Mowgli move through a stampede, down a river, all these behind the scenes snippets are why I must own all of my favorite movies and keep them forever in my Blu-ray library!
Lastly, one of the most intriguing stories on the Blu-ray is the story of the opening sequence where they use the original Jungle Book book! It is in the Disney archives, and no one but an archivist is allowed to touch these items. They had to drill holes in the table that held the book and then put their fingers through to make it seem like the book was dancing! That then transitioned into an illustration, and then the opening sequence. We see a wonderful finished product, but the amount of work that goes into every detail of these Disney movies is what always stands out for me!
And here is the celebrity picture that no one else has! I am here with Ritesh Rajan, he voiced the infant Mowgli’s father!
Disclosure: Disney invited me on this press trip and paid all of my expenses. No other compensation was received. All opinions are always 100% my own and honest.

I can’t wait to see this. I remember fondly the Jungle Book movie in the 60’s. Thanks for the giveaway!
