I recently attended Blogher16 as a Best Buy Ambassador and got to work with some lovely people who are experts in their respective Best Buy stores.
Best Buy was showcasing the new Samsung Galaxy Note 7, and there is nothing better than having the experts spend time with you chatting about a device! These folks were the most informed people I have ever worked with, it was a pleasure to soak up their knowledge!
This phone is similar to the Galaxy phone I reviewed in June. My favorite feature of both is the water resistance! The Galaxy Note 7 is water-resistant in up to 5 feet of water for up to 30 minutes. It’s still Summer and many of us have our phones at our side at the local pool, sometimes too close to the edge. We all have bathrooms, how man horror stories have we heard about people dropping their phone into the toilet! This phone is water resistant, so no worries, and no rice! Yes, we all know that if you get your phone wet, you are supposed to put it in a bag of rice because the rice will soak up the water from the phone. Of course it is not guaranteed to work with that remedy, so just buy the water resistant phone!
The phone has a myriad of other wonderful features:
-With the new S Pen, you can write, draw, edit and record your thoughts. I have many thoughts all day long, don’t you?
-Go beyond the fingerprint: the Galaxy Note 7 comes with a new iris scanner.
-With a fast autofocus and a lens that lets in 95% more light than the previous Notes, the Galaxy Note 7’s camera takes sharp photos and videos when you’re on the move and in the dark. (My second favorite feature!)
-Store every snap, song and slide. Expand your storage up to an additional 256GB with a micro SD card. You see that I used four pictures from the event that I put into a collage above. I took 123 pictures at the event to get those four. I need expanded storage like most of us avid picture takers.

At the Best Buy booth, there was also a sign that said, “About 50% of people overpay on their cell phone bill. See how Best Buy can help.” I was chatting with the lstaff and thought that information was for the folks walking into the booth, not me, and then there was a quiet moment so I asked them about this savings. They were able to lookup my cell phone account and talk to me about how I could change it to get a better deal for myself. They told me things that my local provider never shares with me. This is why I suggest to everyone to go to a Best Buy store and talk to the staff about the Plan and Compare tool, it is available at all Best Buy stores! Ask the staff to review your account. These folks were clear, they do not get commission, so they had no ulterior motive. What a great service!
It was all I could do to keep from running to the local Los Angeles Best Buy to change my mobile plan and preorder the Galaxy Note 7, especially with the below sign which kept calling to me!
Disclosure: The reviewer has been compensated in the form of a Best Buy Gift Card and/or received the product/service at a reduced price or for free.
Sounds like a good time. I have to tell my son about that phone.
