I saw the movie. I loved the movie. It will be a big hit.
Disney•Pixar’s “Finding Dory” reunites everyone’s favorite forgetful blue tang, Dory, with her friends Nemo and Marlin on a search for answers about her past. What can she remember? Who are her parents? And where did she learn to speak Whale?
Ellen DeGeneres was terrific. And yes, I am completely biased as I have been a fan of hers for decades. She is still perfect as Dory. For the sake of full disclosure, while we do not see the original movie anymore, we do go on the Nemo ride at Walt Disney World several times annually, so the story line and characters have been fresh in our minds for the last five years!
I was quite shocked at the biggest co-star in the movie, Ed O’Neill who voiced Hank the octopus (or septupus, if you count his remaining legs). He was terrific and I immediately forgot he was the patriarch in Modern Family!
And young, forgetful, Dory. She broke my heart! This little kid (I mean fish) tried so hard to remember everything her parents were trying to teach her! But she couldn’t And it turns out, that is not a requirement to become a smart survivor as Dory shows us.
The cast of returning characters made this movie even sweeter. Nemo is smarter than ever, teaching his dad a thing or two about trusting people and its great to hear Marlin again! Everyone’s favorites are here to help, the turtles. Also, those seagulls I keep hearing in my head, mine, mine, mine, make a cameo. Mr. Ray is still everyone’s teacher, and he teaches all of us about ray migration!
My note to the parents of younger children: this is the story of a lost child who cannot find her parents. That could be scary to your little kids.
Directed by Andrew Stanton (“Finding Nemo,” “WALL•E”) and produced by Lindsey Collins (co-producer “WALL•E”), the film features the voices of Ellen DeGeneres, Albert Brooks, Ed O’Neill, Kaitlin Olson, Ty Burrell, Eugene Levy and Diane Keaton. “Finding Dory” swims into theaters June 17, 2016.
And I met Dory!
You didn’t think I meant Ellen did you? I WISH!
