The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 2
The Hunger Games has been a very entertaining series of books and movies for my whole family! We had our son start on the book series as a way for him to challenge himself and his reading level. It is a violent series, but for a tween boy, that is also the type of thing that held my son’s interest and helped him to increase his reading level, so we dads were very happy!
Then we let him watch the movies, and we watched them as a family! We were all enthralled from the onset. It also reinforced his reading confidence for higher level books, because the viewing of the movies gave him an opportunity to explain some things in the movie to us, his parents. We had also found that this was a popular series for a lot of his school friends, and even though the subject matter skews towards the adult, and again, anything that challenges the kids, is a positive. We are thrilled to now own the final chapter in the movie series:
Four years after Jennifer Lawrence first appeared on the big screen as Katniss Everdeen in The Hunger Games, Lionsgate’s critically acclaimed series based on Suzanne Collins’ best-selling book trilogy comes to a thrilling resolution in The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 2, arrived on Digital HD March 8 and on Blu-ray Combo Pack + Digital HD, DVD + Digital, and On Demand March 22! In addition, for the first time ever, The Hunger Games Complete 4-Film Collection will be available on Blu-ray and DVD on March 22.
Katniss Everdeen, our heroine, played by the beautiful Jennifer Lawrence, started as a substitute for her sister in the first Hunger Games and is now leading a rebellion against the President. What will the outcome be! This is a great addition to our Blu-ray/DVD collection, and something that we use for our family movie night, it is a movie that we all enjoy and brings us together. When you have a tween or teen son or daughter, that is important!
This Blu-ray release is packed with over five hours of special features, including the “Pawns No More: Making The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 2” 8-part documentary – an in-depth look at the making of the film from production design, costumes, hair, make-up, stunts, special effects and post production. This is the reason I love to own my own copy! I love the inside story and the background information on how the movie was produced and what the director’s have to say:

I think reading the book first is smart I bet he appreciates the movie more now

Doesn’t like this part that much. The ending was quite cut short to an extent that it seems they skipped the most important and exciting parts, the fighting scenes.
Mia says
This looks like it will be as exciting and entertaining to watch as the first ones. It would be fun to see the special features with the previously deleted scenes.
Laurie says
Perfect for family movie night!!!
