We owned all of the Star Wars movies before our son was born. Like many families in America and across the world, this series is a must have for every home collection. This is a fact from my household, and probably a similar fact in many others.
The reason this is a must have for your home library is two fold. Firstly, as is the case with many Blu-ray/DVD’s, there are deleted scenes, out takes, commentaries, and other extras that we all want to see. Secondly, and more importantly in this case, Star Wars: The Force Awakens is a movie you want to see multiple times. I saw it twice in two weeks in the theater and did an amazing review for Fandango Family! And that is still not enough! The entire Star Wars series has enough entertainment value for people to continue viewing all of the individual movies for years and years to come. And this seventh episode is no different, in fact, it is the highest grossing film in the franchise, it is just that good!
Star Wars: The Force Awakens saw the eagerly anticipated reteaming of original Star Wars stars Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher, and Mark Hamill, along with Anthony Daniels, the only actor to have been in all seven Star Wars films, and Peter Mayhew. The returning cast was joined by newcomer Daisy Ridley, who beat out fierce competition to take the principal role of Rey; BAFTA Rising Star Award winner John Boyega (Attack the Block, Imperial Dreams) as reluctant stormtrooper Finn; Emmy® nominee Adam Driver (Lincoln, Girls) as the villainous Kylo Ren, and Golden Globe® winner Oscar Isaac (Inside Llewyn Davis, The Bourne Legacy) as Resistance pilot Poe Dameron.
It was great to see some of the old cast appear in this movie, but it was even more thrilling to watch the new characters grow and become actors that we cannot wait to see in the next installment! Daisy Ridley as Rey is our first major female Jedi and she is fantastic in the role. The other two major characters, reformed stormtrooper Finn (John Boyega) and Poe Dameron (Oscar Isaac) are also in story lines that we want to see continue, and also learn more about their past!
There is a ton of material for many more movies in the franchise to come, and as with Star Wars: The Force Awakens, we will see them all on the big screen and buy them all for our home library in the years to come!
