I’ve been stuffing Christmas stockings for over 40+ years and I have a technique that I share with all those that want to know my secret.
First, you must think of yourself as an artist and the stocking will be your masterpiece. There are three sections to a stocking so stuff it correctly!
The stocking must draw attention to itself and create an emotion of awe and excitement.
This year I am creating a stocking for the Pokémon Trainer in our family. So let the masterpiece begin!
Pokémon Trainer Stocking
The top of the stocking often is the beacon of hope that there are still gifts to unwrap when all the gifts are unwrapped from under the tree. If it attracts the attention of the recipient before opening the gifts under the tree then you have done a very fantastic job.
First impressions count heavily at the top of the stocking so choose wisely. Pokémon battle action Gogoat will be at the top of this stocking to draw attention and lure his new trainer over. Expect exclamations of “ Oh cool, Gogoat!” as the trainer rushes over to the stocking. Gogoat is 6 inches and has 7 points of movement and when the tail is pushed down his front legs kick. He is also big enough that the other Pokemon or Ash can ride him.
A few items in the top of the stocking under Gogoat need to be wrapped. There are always those who sneaks out in order to discover what waits for them. Gift wrapping the top layer guards against this and spoils their plans acting as a barrier against seeing the contents below.
Middle Section of Stocking
This section of the stocking allows you to nurture creativity and inspire the imagination.
Things like art supplies to draw their favorite Pokémons and items like Clip ‘n’ Carry Poké Ball Belt and Poké Balls to encourages role play are great for this section of the Pokémon trainer stocking . These items will carry the beneficiary through the holiday season keeping them active, learning and imagining.
Heel and Toe
First to be stuffed and last to be discovered. This area is perfect for items such as the mega-evolved Pokémons. In reality this area is the most important part of the stocking!
The items here must prevent the emotions of sadness when the last item is found and instead create the emotion of excitement. The treasures placed here must be things the gift recipient will want to use, play or test out first.
Mega Lucario is going in the heel. He is 5″ with 12 points of movement and has an energy accessory.
Mega Blaziken will be the last Pokémon in the toe of the stocking. He is 6″ and also is mega-evolved with 12 points of movement. But wait his job is not over! Remember that the last piece in the stocking must cause excitement to undermine any feelings of disappointment that the last gift has been discovered. So I will put a note in his hand as a clue to the last location of the Pokémon figure.
Surely shrieks of excitement will be heard as the Pokémon trainer rushes to the shower to discover his new Pokemon to train is…….
Now is the time to fill up those stockings with Pokemon figures and role play toys. Go to Tomy and Order by December 11 for standard ground shipping and December 17 for express shipping for a Pokémon Happy Holiday!

Disclosure: I received these items for review in exchange for my honest opinion as a grandmother of a Pokémon trainer.

Wow, I never really thought about how to position different things inside the stocking for Christmas. Since we are an interfaith family we celebrate both Hannukah and Christmas, with small gifts for Hannukah and one larger gift and a few stocking stuffers for Christmas. I’ll have to be more mindful of how I organize their stocking treats!

I had no idea there was a technique to stocking stuffing. I would just throw all the little stuff in the stocking stuffers… lol. My son loves Pokemon so I will definitely add some Pokemon figures and cards to his stocking this year.

My kids don’t know too much about Pokemon but if they did goodness I would have to be stuffing and wrapping all weekend long. I love this though because a lot of kids love pokemon and it would be a nice gift for stockings.

This is so fun! And man you know your Pokemon. These are perfect stocking stuffers for any gamer nerd or anime fan. I’ve never tried wrapping stocking stuffers. I have no idea why I’ve never done that but I’m definitely going to try that out this year!

How fun, I have three boys so Pokemon is right up my alley. I should definitely make their stockings a theme.

This is a great post. I am great at making things fit. When we go food shopping its my job to tackle the fridge and freezer because of my skill. I have’t tried a stocking yet only because I put a few things in there.

This is a great idea! I do not personally know someone who is really into Pokemon but I love all the layers and the reasons behind them. I am sure this is a huge hit for kiddos when they start taking things out of the stocking!

Growing up, my brother was so obsessed with Pokemon and probably would have peed a little with joy at getting a stocking like this! I had no idea that Pokemon was still a big deal, but I’m sure other little boys who love it will love getting a themed stocking! What a great idea!
