“When Riley’s family relocates to a scary new city, the Emotions are on the job, eager to help guide her through the difficult transition. But when Joy and Sadness are inadvertently swept into the far reaches of Riley’s mind—taking some of her core memories with them—Fear, Anger and Disgust are left reluctantly in charge. Joy and Sadness must venture through unfamiliar places—Long Term Memory, Imagination Land, Abstract Thought and Dream Productions—in a desperate effort to get back to Headquarters, and Riley.”
My son and I previewed the movie earlier this year. The first word that comes to mind to describe the movie for me is “clever.” This movie is a brilliant illustration of what might be going on in the mind of a tween aged girl if we could see inside her head, and if her emotions had cartoon character representations. This movie is genius. An animated cartoon that is a psychological look inside a young girls head. And of course Disney would only produce such a masterpiece with a team of trained child development specialists to guide them, to make sure the depictions are as accurate as possible. The attention to detail is what amazes me about every Disney production!
This disc also includes a brand new short, Riley’s First Date: Riley, now 12, is hanging out at home with her parents in San Francisco when potential trouble comes knocking: a boy shows up at the door. Can Mom’s and Dad’s emotions handle “Riley’s First Date?”
And of course, LAVA is here as well, the beautiful and touching short that preceded Inside Out in the theatrical release:
This short is beautiful, and I cried. Plus, the singing was wonderful! Disney’s animated shorts are all award nominated, because they are all amazing!
I recently posted a video that you must have seen, “Inside Out Emotions React To Star Wars: The Force Awakens Trailer.” There is so much more brilliance we can expect from the creators of Inside Out. Riley’s first date is just the beginning. I am in love with this franchise, I have three of the plushes, that article went up last week. This is so much more than just an animated movie, it is a moving, emotional experience, I can’t wait to see what else they have in store for us as Riley grows up into full womanhood!
Lastly, there are a host of other wonderful extras, my reason for always wanting to own the disc of my favorite movies:
-Story of the Story
-Paths to Pixar: The Women of Inside Out
-Mixed Emotions
-Mapping the Mind
-Our Dads, the Filmmakers
