“In MAZE RUNNER: THE SCORCH TRIALS, the next chapter of the epic MAZE RUNNER saga, Thomas (Dylan O’Brien) and his fellow Gladers face their greatest challenge yet: searching for clues about the mysterious and powerful organization known as WCKD. Their journey takes them to the Scorch, a desolate landscape filled with unimaginable obstacles. Teaming up with resistance fighters, the Gladers take on WCKD’s vastly superior forces and uncover its shocking plans for them all.”
My son and I had seen the first entry into this trilogy just one week ago on the plane home from our vacation (thanks Fox DCD for the download code!). I then was able to take him to a televised interview with the cast, where we sat less than 10 feet from them! He was very excited and insisted we see this movie opening weekend, which we did!
This was one of the most fun interviews I have sat in on, the cast were just hanging out and having a good time, not taking the press junket overly serious, which made for a great experience, I am thankful to have been able to share it with my son! Thanks you @AOLBuild’s #BuildSeries!
“MAZE RUNNER: THE SCORCH TRIALS picks up where THE MAZE RUNNER left off, as the Gladers are unloaded from the chopper that flew them away from the maze. The helicopter’s doors fly open and masked soldiers whisk them into an underground bunker. The bunker is run by the duplicitous Janson (Aidan Gillen), who supplies a feast and warm beds, while warning, “The world out there’s in a rather precarious situation. We’re all hanging on by a very thin thread. The fact that you kids can survive that damned virus…”
Janson orders the Gladers to undergo exhaustive testing in the med-lab, and interrogates Thomas about his memories of WCKD, demanding to know whose side he’s on. Thomas has his own questions, like why has Teresa (Kaya Scodelario) been separated from the other Gladers? The bunker’s prevailing military presence offers no answers. However, the loner Aris (Jacob Lofland), who has arrived from another maze, seeks out Thomas and leads him to a restricted area where corpses are heaped on gurneys.
Thomas suspects the bunker is run by none other than WCKD, despite Janson’s protestations to the contrary. Thomas must convince the Gladers they aren’t safe here. Their loyalty to each other is all they can count on.”
I thought this second installment of the three part movie trilogy far outpaced the first. There was more drama, more action, and more information was revealed on what had happened to our planet, and what evil was behind the folks at WCKD.
And for someone who has not read the books, it was the first viewing we had of the diseased folks who look and act like Zombies. I cannot wait for the third movie to find out more about this disease that seemed to follow on the heels of the solar flare that caused our planet to become so scorched.
My husband enjoyed the movie as well, and he had not seen the first one. I think enough information is revealed in the second movie that it can be seen without having first viewed the first, and we all highly recommend this great action adventure, post apocalyptic movie!
Disclosure: Thanks to Fandango for the free movie tickets we received at the earlier movie preview we attended!
