As a huge fan of Walt Disney World, my family and I have been fortunate enough to stay at Disney for 8 – 10 days for the past three years. This means we are always looking for new attractions and shows to keep our stay interesting and exciting. This year we added Cirque du Soleil to the mix and I am so glad we did. It was the perfect show for our third annual Walt Disney World trip.
Cirque du Soleil began as a group of 20 street performers in 1984 and has grown to a company with 5,000 employees, including more than 1,300 artists from more than 50 different countries. Cirque du Soleil has brought wonder and delight to more than 100 million spectators in more than 300 cities in over forty countries on six continents. Cirque du Soleil has 18 unique productions presented around the world.
One of those 18 shows is in Florida, at the Downtown Disney location at Walt Disney World:
“A door opens and two worlds collide. Enter the attic of make-believe, where the mundane meets the marvelous. Dreams and nightmares intertwine. La Nouba which calls on both individual and collective memory, is an unforgettable journey into a world at once threatening and exhilarating, frightening and familiar. La Nouba beckons to us, challenges us to uncover passions we thought we had lost long ago; to frolic in our childhood dreams and enter a place where the extraordinary transforms and overcomes the ordinary. La Nouba is the meeting of two worlds poles apart: the fantastic world of the circus artists – the Cirques (circus people), sporting bright, fluorescent colours–and that of the Urbains (urbanites), who wear dark, monochromatic outfits. When these two worlds first make contact, the magic and amazing feats of the one set fire to the pale mundanity of the other.”
Downtown Disney is one of our favorite parts of Disney. I have written articles about the wonderful Landry’s membership card that gets us immediate seating at several restaurants at Downtown Disney, so we knew we did not have to add any waiting, we were able to leisurely eat our dinner and then stroll over to the earlier of the two La Nouba shows!
And I was told there is a secret pre-show, and to make sure to arrive 15 minutes early!
I snapped that before they told us to put our cameras away! The audience had no choice but to participate in the hilarity of these two clowns!
I have seen similar type shows form traveling troupes in NYC, I have to say that this show is far more spectacular. Having a permanent home lends itself to more elaborate sets and more intricate movements and acts on stage. I am grateful to have been able to take my spouse and son to this highly entertaining show!
We recommend this show, please visit their site for show times and tickets here!
Disclosure: We received complimentary tickets to the show. All opinions are always 100% honest and our own!
