Staying Connected!
My family recently returned from a 13 day trip to Orlando Florida. We all have different needs and different choices to make when it comes to staying connected.
The first item on my list was a security camera system. I had a new one to test out, and it was perfect timing because my son had just lost his keys and we could not get a locksmith from our apartment complex to replace the old key system until we would be back from vacation. My mom will say I am revealing too much here, she is the one that says never say when you are leaving town on a social media post, but the truth is, I wanted extra security. We do have two locks on the door, and the lost key was for only one of them, so I knew there would be no issue. I always like to have a back-up plan, so a security camera in the living room was prefect for us! I checked it regularly and luckily saw nothing new!
I also like to stay connected via social media when I am away. Even if no one else thinks I am interesting, I think I am and like to post a lot of pictures. Tablets were on sale so I purchased a back-up smaller sized tablet. Yes, I had two tablets and two smartphones on this most recent trip. And my laptop from Best Buy! And from the number of views and likes on my various social media pages, I made the right decision, I was entertaining throughout! That is part of how I enjoy our vacations, after all, the pictures we take are for us to remember the good times we had as a family later on. And they are for letting our extended families see what we are doing while we are away. They appreciate that, at least that is what my mother-in-law tells me!
How could I not post this while I was away?
And I have a 12 year old tween son. He has a smartphone and the constant battle is trying to have him stay connected with his family that he is physically with, and not all the folks on social media that feel they must all stay in touch with each other constantly. Luckily we still win that battle, but today’s tweens have to feel they can stay connected if they need to.
Best Buy has all of the tech you need to stay connected when on vacation! Again, feel free to see what you need before you leave town at BestBuy.com!

I have a hard time balancing sharing stuff on social media vs. keeping it private while I go out of town. I’ll have to check out the travel stuff on Best Buy’s site.
I totally get this. On one hand you want to have this family time all too yourself but then there is family and friends who want to take the journey with you. It’s all about balance.
It’s hard to stay connected with family when there is so much to “see” on our tech devices. I have set a time limit for my daughter but I need to set one for myself.
We also got security cameras after someone vandalized our car twice in a row. It’s great peace of mind to be able to look at what’s going on anytime now on my smartphone, and peace of mind makes you enjoy a vacation more! (Plus, just having it is a deterrent to ne’er-do-wells!)
I share like crazy on my own trips, but I make a real effort to keep our family trips just between our family. I want that to be all about us. I still share a little, though. 😉
All these sound great way to stay in touch with social media
