“RemoteLync notifies homeowners of a home emergency when they’re away – offering peace of mind at a great value. Ideal for a primary residence, vacation home or rental property, the device plugs into a single outlet, listens for a smoke or carbon monoxide alarm, and uses the home’s; WiFi to remotely alert the homeowner on iOS®- and Android™ – compatible phones and tablets.*
The RemoteLync monitoring solution works with a home’s existing alarms and Wi-Fi and does not require additional products or monthly fees. It uses patented technology to distinguish smoke and carbon monoxide alarms from background noise to reduce the chance of a nuisance alarm. When an alarm triggers the device, RemoteLync communicates via a free app that can be customized to notify an entire network, including neighbors and family, or even call 911.”
Remote Monitoring – Why it’s needed:
We go on vacation and/or business trips several times a year. Our landlord has the main key for our door, but I use a second lock when we leave town. Ours is a typical home with loads of electronics and other devices all over the house. I try to remember to shut everything down when we leave, but what if I forget, or what if it is an electrical device that stays plugged in? I always worry about these things.
I always have a neighbor with my keys to get my mail when I am away. Now she is a help in a second way. She can let any fire department or other folks into my apartment if there is a problem when I am on the other side of the country! I get notified via this great new Kidde RemoteLync if there is an issue in my apartment and my neighbor has the keys to let someone into my apartment. This could prevent the fire department from breaking down my door! Or better yet, if the battery runs low on one of my alert systems, and it starts ringing, Kristen can come in and shut it down for me (or change the battery!). I do not want to annoy my neighbors with this kind of noise until I return home! Welcome to apartment living!

Coming from the life of a paramedic, this sounds like a perfect device to keep your house or other location safe and sound. Great review.

Reading about this and other connected home gear like the Nest learning thermostat makes me wonder what will be available in 10 years. Cool and practical at the same time. I would have especially liked this living in an apartment or condo.

This sounds like a great device! You can never be too careful or have too many backups when your not at home!
