I think I have been a fan of Swiffer products since they were first introduced to the market place. I remember the early commercials showing how Swiffer just kept collecting all the dust in your house onto their products for our easy disposal. At the time, we had a lot of dust in our studio apartment, in fact, when we moved over 14 years ago, it was a dust bunny that finally chased us out, clearly I did not Swiffer often enough!
Years later, I have a tween son who is also a comedian! He is constantly re-enacting the one of the current Swiffer commercials with the old married couple, Morty and Lee. Swiffer has inspired my son to create his own comedy act! That in turn makes it easier for me to enlist his aid in using the Swiffer around the house, after all, most of it is his dirt! And there will never be a video of him cleaning with me, so you will never know which one of us plays Morty or Lee when we clean together!
And my house is clean! We live in a two bedroom apartment in New York City and the need for clean is constant. We do not take our shoes off when we enter the house, so goodness knows what we are trailing in! And again, I have a rough and tumble tween son who is now allowed to go out and play unsupervised (this gets special mention because this new, grown-up behavior is less than two months old). What he trails in on his sneakers is not something I want to look at twice. That is why all Swiffer products are kept handily next to the fridge in the kitchen, ready for use at a moment’s notice!
I also have several dad neighbors that I have bonded with over the years as we relish our roles as parents! I was given an extra Swiffer box to share with one of them. I was thrilled to be able to share this great product because many of us in my 12 story apartment building have spouses that are working, so chipping in with all aspects of what needs to be done for the family are now shared by all! In this day and age, many dads help out in the house, which is not something that happened when I was being raised last century!

Because Dads clean. Dads no longer occasionally “help” around the house, dads are partners in keeping their houses clean. If the mom works, she can’t be the only one responsible for everything else at home as well, everyone in the house has to chip in.And of course in my house, my son is being raised by two dads, so he sees that dads do everything! Overall it is thrilling to me to see that the gender stereotypes that I was raised with do not exist in my son’s world, and this extends beyond just house cleaning. I am also lucky as my son loves to imitate his dad’s (you remember the “Like Father, Like Son ads of yesteryear!), which coupled with his desire to be helpful, makes for a great assistant!

Oh we looooove our Swiffer! It’s super easy for me even sitting in my wheelchair. And, I love that the 8 year old is able to use it, he loves helping and the vacuum is just a bit too clunky for him.

We have all hardwood floors so Swiffers are a must in this house with a husband, kiddo, 2 dogs and a cat. Otherwise, I would be dragging out the vaccum daily.
Yes! All men, regardless of dad status, should be helping out with housework! Swiffer has some great products that make it so easy to clean, too!
