Last week I had the honor and privilege of attending a very special Swiffer product event. It was special for many reasons, the first being that Swiffer was celebrating dads, and recognizing the fact that we are now very active participants in our homes, not in helping out with the chores, but rather in partnering with our spouse’s to get every household chore completed. Many homes have two working parents, or one working parent outside the home and it is the mom. The dad who leaves for work in the morning and then arrives home for his slippers, dinner at the table, and then TV time, well, he is becoming a rarer and rarer creature. Times are changing and society and families are following suit. My first Swiffer post last week is where I shared that I have been a fan of the product since it was introduced to the market place.
The event was also special because there were four dad bloggers in attendance who are in in the actual Swiffer Dad video! And I knew them all! In fact, I was on TV with one of them a couple of months ago! I love seeing these types of successes for my fellow bloggers because that shows me that this can happen for all of us in the blog world who work hard and do good work. And especially when we get to partner with great brands like Swiffer!
Lastly, Anthony Anderson was “The” Swiffer Dad! I have been a fan of his work, most recently his hit TV comedy, “Blackish,” the number one new comedy as he reminded us!
Anthony related stories from his childhood to us. He said his mom used to have her three sons line up Saturday morning for chores (his baby sister had an exemption it seemed), and proceed to help around the house until it was time to watch Soul Train. I forgot to mention to him that my sister and I used to write letters to Soul Train to try to get on the show!
Anthony said that his hard working attitude when it comes to house work is still with him and he helps around his house even today. That is why he was the creative advisor, a hands on dad who cleans the kitchen floors and handles his daughter’s cheerleading carpools. He is a reminder that no matter what successes any of us have, we still want to instill a good work ethic into our children. This is why his show, “Blackish,” is so successful, many of us see our own home situations in the show, it is extremely relatable. As Anthony related stories about his kids I do have to mention that we were able to cajole him into re-enacting a cheer he did to help his daughter. Needless to say, this highly successful actor and celebrity, was one of the most down to earth people you would want to meet.
And meet him I did!
I am thrilled to be a part of this campaign where Swiffer tries to dispel the old stereotypes about dad’s roles in the house. What was true last generation is not as true today and things are changing rapidly:
-According to the Swiffer Cleaning Index, Dads today are pitching in nearly two times more than their Dads did.
-In fact, the roles have really shifted as half of Dads today say they do the lion’s share of the cleaning in their home, dividing chores with their significant others – of course that is true in my house!
-Swiffer products help busy families clean quickly and effectively so they can spend time on things that really matter.
-With the Swiffer Wet Jet, busy dads are able to soak in their moments with the family because they have the clean up covered. That’s the #SwifferEffect!
And then they put me to work!

I like the way it is on floors but what besides floors can it be used for?
