One of my goals is to make sure my son plays outside as often as possible. It is far too easy to pick up one of many forms of electronics and to focus on them, and not the art of outdoor play.
In relation to this I had a talk with my spouse. Middle School is demanding homework time from my son on the weekends, something we did not expect. I explained that it was up to us to make sure we ended any of our daily weekend walks at a playground (before we go in for homework and TV). We always find friends at any of our local playgrounds, that’s why I love my neighborhood!
One of the biggest benefits we discovered when reviewing this Hot Wheels RC Street Hawk™ Remote Controlled Flying Car was that it kept our son active. Once you get the vehicle up and out, you are then required to run and take it back to home base. It requires a fast moving car start before it achieves lift, so retrieving it encourages my son and his friends to get some running exercise! I am tricky, once I get my son busy and active outdoors, thoughts of TV and iPod disappear!

We are big on playing outside as well. My daughter loves playing outside and is a little sad it has gotten colder that she can’t go out as much. This looks like a fun gift idea.
