I too have rules somewhat like yours. First thing when my kids get home, they do their homework and in mornings before leaving, they clean up their room. I also am teaching them organization, get prepared the night before, clothes out and so they are ready to go. Then, when chores or school work is done and reading in between, they can play

One rule we have is Homework comes first and each of our kids has a couple of chores that need to be done. Then, they can play.

I try to let my daughter be a kid as much as possible. I fee that kids grow up way too fast these days. One rule i have it to always try and have fun, even if you are doing chores. I say turn up the music if it helps!

I would be sure to tell my child each and every year, as my mom did me, that you are an individual. You are not a follower. Make your own path and don’t let others dictate who you are or what you do. I think this is especially important due to peer pressure and bullying!

My big things. Breakfast every morning no matter what then we double check homework and play for a bit. After school and soccer, cross country etc we have a snack and do homework. Routine is everything in my family. Our sons truly thrive from it!

Our rules are that after they come home from school, they change out of their school clothes and then if they have homework, they finish it before anything else.

I would add that the amount of TV in the fall and spring are limited. They can get rewarded by getting something new to play with outside to keep them active. subscribed by email.
