My son is away at sleep away camp. I kid you not, he says the food is “not that bad, ” but asked that we bring his Cheerios Protein on visiting day! His camp gets a thorough cleaning on visiting day so we had to take him off grounds for 5 1/2 hours, we eventually took him for a meal, but not until he went through a good portion of the Cheerios Protein!
Cheerios Protein also makes for great snacking. Case in point, my spouse is a snackaholic. He had been known to eat a bag of chips and a pint of ice cream every night for months on end. To conquer this poor snacking habit, he has gone cold turkey and not had dessert foods for over 1 1/2 years. He has much better will power than me! The problem then becomes what to do at night for a snack. There have been many evenings where I had to listen to complaints about being hungry, etc. We have found cereal, and in particular a healthier higher protein cereal like Cheerios Protein, to be a great alternative for evening snack choices! Even though it is delicious and tastes like cheating, it is cereal and on the approved list for my spouse’s snacking!
Because of his work he prefers no face pictures on the blog, but this and a yogurt are his evening rituals!
And I needed to restock, so because I always like to put my money where my mouth is, I headed to a great sale at my local Target to stock up! The first 2 boxes of Cheerios Protein we were sent for review. All others were purchased afterwards by me!
And we have even shared this cereal with my father-in-law. My father-in-law is always looking for anything he can take to improve his health. For example, awhile back he read that cinnamon had been found to be extra beneficial, so he started using a lot of cinnamon. When I explained all the extra cinnamon he needed was in the Cinnamon and Almond Cheerios Protein, he was thrilled. Especially because he also eats a certain amount of almonds per day, that has also been in the news as a way to combat various ailments. It’s a win/win!
Lastly, do you remember the days when we used to carry Cheerios around for our little ones to snack on at any time of the day, when we were out and about the town?
To be honest, the old Cheerios is not sweet enough to interest my son as a snack. He might have it for breakfast in chocolate milk, but that is it. This Cheerios Protein is sweeter, thanks to the oats and honey, so I always carry around a baggie’s worth, because that is an after school snack he will eat. I have written before, I am not buying snacks on the go and spending a fortune! I have that in common with all my thrifty blogger friends out there! A baggies worth for on the go works just fine for us and saves a lot of money. I live in Manhattan, you would not believe the elevated prices here! I love being economical with Cheerios Protein, which my son is convinced helps him when he plays basketball at the playground after school, after all, he can read, he sees it has extra protein! That marketing effort works great for this parent!
Please leave me a comment and share with me what you would replace with Cheerios Protein to make this your new afternoon or evening snack!

My two oldest boys used to snack on cereal. They’re grown now, but I remembered and picked up some cereal for our hotel room at a vacation destination we all met for last month. I quickly found out that the grown boys still eat cereal any time of day. 😉 Cheerios has always been a fave. I’ll give the Protein version a whirl.
