Chicken of the Sea is celebrating 100 years of serving delicious seafood! To help celebrate, you can help name their mermaid, nominate a friend or non‑profit for a gratitude award, meet them on their nationwide tour, and more!

What is the 100 Years of Good and the Great American Gratitude Tour?
“100 Years of Good” is a way for the folks at Chicken of the Sea to look back by paying it forward. As Chicken of the Sea celebrates its 100th anniversary as one of the nation’s leading providers of seafood, they want to recognize the community champions across the nation by awarding a total of $1 million in 2014 – that’s 100, $10k awards! Not only is Chicken of the Sea embarking on this nationwide tour to find individuals and organizations, but they’re asking the public to help by nominating a friend, family member, or charity at www.chickenofthesea.com/100 and they will choose some of the award recipients from those submissions!

Chicken of the Sea has already awarded some of these $10,000 Great American Gratitude Awards to organizations and individuals who are doing great work in their communities. Recipients include the Connecticut Food Bank, Artscape, and Meals on Wheels of Manatee County! I used to work for the Meals on Wheels of Rockland County (my first job) as my neighbor started it from her house. I saw first hand how important every penny raised was, and then used, to help feed the home bound and folks otherwise unable to fend or themselves. I am so excited to see a MOW that won a grant from Chicken of the Sea!

The tour is coming to cities all over America!

    This is a neat tour. I had no idea they had been around so long. I wish they were stopping in our area to pay it forward, but maybe on the 200 year tour.

    Honestly, I have never tried Chicken of the Sea. I have been craving some tuna casserole though, so I will have to give them a try soon! And I am surprised the mermaid has went all these years without a name.

    I love that you have a personal affiliation with meals on wheels, and your neighbor being there for the start up is a cool fun fact! Hurrah that MOW got a grant, and hurrah to COS for doing something so great, sure to benefit so many.

    every time I hear chicken of the sea I think of what Jessica Simpson said on her show yearsssssss ago. “Is this chicken I’m eating, or tuna?” What a blonde! lo

    I totally agree with the other commenters — I always think of Jessica Simpson when I hear Chicken of the Sea. It’s one of those TV moments I’ll never forget. Haha!

    Chicken of the Sea…”is that fish or chicken?” – That’s my Jessica Simpson impression. LOL I love chicken of the sea for real. I’ll have to check out the tour when it comes close to DC.
