“Switched at Birth, a one-hour scripted drama, tells the story of two teenage girls who discover they were accidentally switched as newborns in the hospital. Bay Kennish grew up in a wealthy family with two parents and a brother, while Daphne Vasquez, who lost her hearing at an early age due to a case of meningitis, grew up with a single mother in a poor neighborhood. Things come to a dramatic head when both families meet and struggle to learn how to live together for the sake of the girls.”
How exciting to meet Marlee Matlin after all these years of watching her act on screen! Let me backtrack for a moment and mention that on these press trips we always get a few minutes in the actual Disney store on Disney property! Guess who we saw in their looking at a piece of luggage depicting a scene from the movie “Frozen?” Marlee Matlin! It was a riot to run into her a few minutes before we crossed the street to hang out with her at the Moms of ABC Family Mixer. She was asking if her daughter was too old for this type of character luggage and then admitted that it might be for her. This great sense of humor was only foretelling what was to come!
As I have said before, as a parent blogger, we have huge common ground with “celebrities,” and that is, that no matter what our jobs, our primary purpose is raising our kids. Marlee Matlin chatted about her family and about sending her oldest off to college. She has four children, so she is one busy lady. She chatted about how her kids all have different personalities and how much work juggling it all is. But most of all, I had no idea what a huge sense of humor she had. Whether it was about talking about the show, or talking about her family, Marlee had us in stitches!
And Constance Marie was there as well! My son is still away, I cannot wait to show him I met George Lopez’s wife from their sitcom, that was one of my son’s favorite shows! Again, we chatted about parenting, juggling work and kids, and life. It was a pleasure meeting these wonderful and very friendly Moms of ABC Family!
Thank-you ladies for a fun chat!
Don’t forget to check out this week’s episode: Bay and Emmett are elected senior prom queen and king on an all new-episode of “Switched at Birth,” airing Monday, August 11 at 8:00PM ET/PT on ABC Family.
Regina, Kathryn and John are shocked when Bay tells them about the extent of Daphne’s self-destructive behavior, prompting the parents to set some ground rules. Bay reconsiders attending the prom when the school board implements a new rule regarding dance dress code. Daphne continues her downward spiral when a bad decision puts her job at the clinic in jeopardy. Please note that my new friend Marlee does not appear in this week’s episode!
Tune in on Mondays at 8:00pm ET/PT on ABC Family.”
Disclosure: Disney invited me on this press trip and paid all of my expenses. No other compensation was received. All opinions are always 100% my own and honest. Constance’s Episodic Photo Courtesy of ABC FAMILY/ Kelsey McNeal from Episode #313 and

This looks like a fun day. I had no idea that Marlee had four children wow she must be super busy.
I’ve seen Marlee Marlin in a few projects and am always amazed at how easily she seems to fill the role she’s in. Thanks for sharing!!
Marlee Marlin has really brought deafness to the fore front of TV and Movies. She is amazing and your picture with her is amazing. Then to also meet Constance was a real treat I know. She has a good presence in anything she works in. Thanks for sharing, the show was awesome, such a sad story that hospitals can be negligent like that and even now things seem to slide by without knowledge to the patient or hospital. But again thanks for sharing your beautiful experience you really do bring happening to life through all you do.
